The Best Movie Plot Twist

Shutter Island, The 6th Sense, The Usual Suspects… over the years Hollywood has given us some iconic twists, but one of them stands above the rest. That one is The Prestige whose sheer brilliance lies in the the twist’s simplicity which adds to its shock factor. Hugh Jackman goes to the ends of the earth to find out the truth yet the answer was right under his nose the whole time. What do you think is the best movie plot twist?

Kevin Costner’s new western Horizon failed to find its audience at the box office. Do you think this means the Western genre may be a thing of the past?

Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 is underperforming at the box office following negative reviews from critics and audiences alike. While Costner seems convinced that the film will find greater success when it hits streaming and televised syndication, which it very well might, the film’s reception seems to indicate that the Western genre may not be as easy to capitalize on as it once was. Westerns had their heyday from 1940 to 1960, a period that is often called the “Golden Age of the Western,” but the genre has failed to find its legs in this modern era of filmmaking. Do you think the genre is dying out? If you do, what do you think it will it take to revitalize this beloved corner of storytelling?

The Best Horror Trilogy

This weekend marks the release of ‘MaXXXine,’ the final film in Ti West’s trilogy that also included ‘X’ and ‘Pearl’. With this horror trilogy in mind, what is your favorite horror trilogy, or three-film stretch of a horror franchise? Would it be the first three Evil Dead films? Or possibly the trifecta of Candyman films? I’d personally go with the first three films in the Scream series, as these stories that center around Sidney Prescott form the strongest narrative in one of my favorite horror film franchises.

Which movie betrayal still stings today?

“Long live the king,” Scar said as he pushed Mufasa to his death. This shouldn’t have surprised me; after all, Scar never hid who he was and made it very clear that he coveted the “throne” of Pride Rock. But still, it did; and it remains a cinematic moment that has stayed with me far longer than I care to admit. Even now, whenever I rewatch ‘The Lion King,’ I am still, somehow, caught off guard by this scene and inevitably brought to tears.

What other movie betrayals sting just as much? Which one will you never get over? Did it surprise you, scar you, or give you trust issues? Let us know below.

Who Is the Best Character on ‘Lost’?

With ‘Lost’ now on Netflix, an entirely new generation can explore the exciting, strange, and often confounding six seasons of ABC’s hit series. With an expansive and diverse cast of characters throughout its run, who is your favorite character from ‘Lost’? My personal pick would probably either be Locke, with his tragic backstory and attempts to prove that he can do anything he sets his mind to, or Desmond, whose time-shifting episode “The Constant” is arguably the best hour of the entire series.
