West Fargo warns residents about planning commission email scam

WEST FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) –

The city of West Fargo is warning residents about scam emails that appear to come from members of the West Fargo Planning Commission.

City officials said the emails are impersonating planning officials and have been sent to local residents, but did not specify how many people may have been targeted.

The city said legitimate emails from staff will come from addresses ending in @westfargond.gov. Officials also stressed that the city will never ask for payment of an invoice via wire transfer.

A list of planning department fees and other city fees, including those for events and liquor licenses, is available on the city’s website.

Residents who receive a suspicious email or want to verify whether a message is legitimate are urged to call the city at 701-515-5000. Officials also recommend reporting suspicious emails as spam or blocking the sender.
