Laramie County voters receiving scam emails demanding they update registration

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Some voters have been encountering spam emails telling them that they need to update their registration, prompting the Laramie County clerk to issue a warning: Do not click on suspicious links sent to you by the county.

“The Laramie County Clerk’s Office received numerous reports yesterday about emails stating that that their voter registration must be updated immediately or it will be cancelled,” a post by the Laramie County government said.

The emails prompt the recipient to follow a link — a fraudulent one.

“These emails are not from the Laramie County Clerk’s Office or any official election source,” the county said.

If voters are curious about their registration status, they should instead go straight to the Laramie County website or contact the clerk’s office directly through email at election@laramiecountywy.gov or phone at 307-633-4242.
