UD to enhance email security with Proofpoint beginning June 1

Beginning June 1, all University of Delaware email will be protected by Proofpoint as part of an ongoing initiative to strengthen email security across the UD community.

Proofpoint is an industry-leading email security platform designed to enhance protection against spam, phishing and malicious email threats. Proofpoint will automatically filter suspicious and potentially harmful messages before they reach user inboxes, helping reduce spam, limit phishing attempts and improve the overall email experience for faculty and staff.

As part of this change, users may notice:

  • Reduced spam and phishing emails in their inboxes
  • Daily digest emails that list quarantined messages
  • New tools to review and release quarantined email when needed

Emails identified as spam or suspicious will be placed into quarantine in Proofpoint to be reviewed.

Users can review and release quarantined messages, including emails that may have been incorrectly marked as spam or suspicious, through the Proofpoint portal or the daily quarantine digest emails. Released messages may take up to an hour to reach an inbox. Some messages, such as malware or confirmed phishing attempts, cannot be released by users and require IT assistance.

For questions or technical issues related to this change, contact IT Support at AskIT@udel.edu.

UD Information Technologies appreciates the campus community’s continued partnership in helping maintain a secure computing environment.
