Our Cape Town office is looking for a senior conceptual and digital copywriter to join our Creative Team.

Role summary:
We have an opportunity for a senior copywriter who is passionate about conceptual thinking and eager to make an impact within our agency. We want a dedicated conceptual digital copywriter who is versatile and has an in-depth understanding and insight into different markets and what makes the consumer tick. You’ll be working with our digital and ATL team and will play a key role as the partner with our creative director on a wide range of projects.

We’re looking for someone who is adept at conceptualising and implementing innovative digital led and ATL campaigns. The successful applicant has proven cut-throat writing skills working on a large national retail brand, is able to work across various target markets, platforms and channels, has proven understanding of retail and brands, keeps a cool head and delivers exceptional results under pressure; against fast and tight deadlines and in volume. Our ideal candidate is able to work collaboratively in a team and is resourceful; focused and level-headed.

Summary of main duties:

  • Translate the brief and the strategic requirements into a compelling creative solution
  • Presentation of work to the creative group head and/or creative director
  • Be the custodian and creator of the copy, tone and language style of the client’s brand
  • Together with an art director, generate effective, innovative and compelling creative concepts for individual ads or campaigns based on sound strategies
  • Pro-actively identify creative digital trends and opportunities
  • Direct and produce effective, impactful and compelling advertising that reflects insight into the task, the brand and the target market
  • Take ownership of your tasks and actively manage the creative process to progress towards the deadline

Requirements:

  • Relevant years’ conceptual digital copywriting experience within an advertising agency
  • Strong conceptual ability
  • Advanced brand copywriting
  • Attention to detail
  • A solid portfolio that reflects creative copywriting proficiencies – both ATL and Digital work
  • Understanding of advertising as a selling tool  
  • Capability to take on campaigns with multi-element tasks which require a concept and a thought through process
  • Accept guidance and respond well to criticism 
  • Resilient – can accept setbacks 
  • Finely honed copywriting skills and latest techniques
  • Have a great sense of humour
  • Have an understanding of writing for SEO and keywords
  • AdWords, Analytics, Reporting
  • Must demonstrate creative insight and brilliance for client solutions across all media platforms
  • Create copy across multiple channels
  • Consistently produce creative elements against a deliverables list 
  • Lead brainstorms and conceptualisation
  • Lead the craft and design of an idea
  • Detail-obsessed big thinker, passionate and hard-working, self-motivated team player with the ability to grasp a client’s strategy and brand, and deliver beautiful, insightful, polished work

Qualifications required:

  • Relevant degree/diploma
  • Be proficient in PowerPoint/Keynote, MS Word
