Breanna Nelson shared her selling tips via a video posted to her TikTok channel, which she often uses to share her latest second hand hauls.

The Depop whizz revealed that the most important thing you can do to make money is to list new items every day.

She said: “I try to list five things a day and I’ve noticed that when I don’t list consistently, my sales dramatically drop.

Breanna’s second tip is to refresh your items.

She said that all you need to do to do this is click “edit” on your listings, and then just click “save”.

Doing this will boost your items to the top of Depop’s “For You Page”, so that more people will see them.

Breanna’s third tip is to add lots of hashtags and keywords to boost your search visibility.

She added that you should try to make your clothes look as appealing as possible by using good lighting and a plain background.

Adding a picture of yourself wearing the item will also help to boost sales as it helps people to see how the item looks when it’s on.

Breanna also advised taking measurements of all of your clothes, so that sellers can be sure that they will fit in them.

I made £1.4K on Vinted in 30 days and it’s all thanks to the daily rule I follow – it sells my old clothes, including swimwear in moments

Her final, and “most embarrassing” tip is to unfollow some of your followers, and then follow some new ones.

She said that this will boost your page to so many people.

“Every time I follow and unfollow a bunch of people, I make a bunch of sales”, she said.

Breanna’s video, which was posted under the username @breannathrifts, has likely left many people impressed, as it has racked up over 56,000 views on the video sharing platform.

TikTok users raced to the videos comments section to share their thoughts on her tips.

One person said: “I have so many clothes, I need to start selling on Depop”.

Do I need to pay tax on my side hustle income?

MANY people feeling strapped for cash are boosting their bank balance with a side hustle.

The good news is, there are plenty of simple ways to earn some additional income – but you need to know the rules.

When you’re employed the company you work for takes the tax from your earnings and pays HMRC so you don’t have to.

But anyone earning extra cash, for example from selling things online or dog walking, may have to do it themselves.

Stephen Moor, head of employment at law firm Ashfords, said: “Caution should be taken if you’re earning an additional income, as this is likely to be taxable.

“The side hustle could be treated as taxable trading income, which can include providing services or selling products.”

You can make a gross income of up to £1,000 a year tax-free via the trading allowance, but over this and you’ll usually need to pay tax.

Stephen added: “You need to register for a self-assessment at HMRC to ensure you are paying the correct amount of tax.

“The applicable tax bands and the amount of tax you need to pay will depend on your income.”

If you fail to file a tax return you could end up with a surprise bill from HMRC later on asking you to pay the tax you owe – plus extra fees on top.

A second said: “Great tips”.

A third said: “Thank you!”

Online marketplaces like Depop and Vinted have millions of users across the UK, with the cost-of-living crisis only increasing their popularity.

Financial pressures in British homes saw sales of second-hand goods jump by 15 per cent to £21 billion in 2022.
One in six people now say they buy used items, according to research commissioned by review site Trustpilot.

So, now’s the perfect time to make yourself some extra cash on the likes of Depop.
