Shark Tank Judge Mark Cuban Shares Strategies To Make Money Using ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini

Billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban has offered a new perspective on how young people can take advantage of the artificial intelligence boom and make money. He told CNBC Make It that if he were 16-year-old today, he would pursue a tech-focused side hustle in prompt engineering, leveraging the increasing demand for AI skills.

He further elaborated that he would focus on learning how to write prompts for AI language models such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini. Then, he’d help his friends apply those prompts to their school assignments. “Next, I would approach small to medium-sized businesses that aren’t familiar with AI yet,” Cuban added. “It wouldn’t matter if I were 16; I’d be teaching them too.”

According to a LendingTree report from February, over half of Gen Z in the US currently engage in side hustles. One particularly lucrative opportunity is AI prompt engineering, which involves creating inquiries for chatbots to get desired responses.

Cuban’s journey from a young entrepreneur selling garbage bags door-to-door to a tech visionary highlights the stark contrast between traditional and modern business models. While his early ventures focused on tangible goods like baseball cards and stamps, his hypothetical AI side hustle taps into the digital age, showcasing the rapid evolution of opportunities.

After a brief career in banking post-college, Cuban fully embraced entrepreneurship. He sold his first company, a software startup called MicroSolutions, to CompuServe for $6 million in 1990. His second venture, the audio streaming service Broadcast.com, catapulted him to billionaire status when he sold it to Yahoo for $5.7 billion in 1999.

Prompt engineering is a rapidly evolving field with a wide range of applications. From crafting compelling marketing copy to developing sophisticated AI-powered tools, skilled prompt engineers play a crucial role in harnessing the power of AI. As businesses increasingly rely on AI to streamline operations and drive innovation, the demand for individuals who can effectively communicate with AI systems is on the rise.
