Resident, pets die in Palm Bay house fire Tuesday afternoon


Palm Bay Fire Rescue said one person and two animals died in a house fire on Tuesday.Firefighters said a single-story home on Furth Road NW had heavy fire involvement in one of the bedrooms when crews arrived shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday. Residents told firefighters that someone was still inside, and some firefighters searched the home closest to the fire as other crews worked on fire control.Firefighters found one person, along with a cat and a dog, who had all died. The other occupants of the home were able to get out without injury.The Palm Bay Police Department and Brevard County Fire Rescue assisted at the scene.The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office is working alongside the Palm Bay Police Department Crime Scene Unit to determine the origin and circumstances of the fire.
