Pappy is a 5-year-old cat whose world was upended when his owner was deported, separating him from his owner and three cat friends. Soon after, he made his way to ARNO but struggled in the shelter until he was placed in a foster home. He’s doing better, with comforting items to ease him back into home life: cozy hiding spots, windows to gaze out of, and cardboard scratchers to keep those nails looking trim. Pappy eagerly eats any and all treats tossed his way, and he prefers wet pâté over all the other kinds, so no need to waste your money on fancy foods. Animal Rescue New Orleans, known as ARNO, is a nonprofit, no-kill animal rescue and shelter serving the Greater New Orleans area. Founded in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina, ARNO began as an emergency response to rescue pets left behind by the storm and has since grown into a permanent resource for abandoned and homeless animals.
The group rescues dogs and cats that are neglected, injured, elderly, or otherwise at risk, providing them with medical care, rehabilitation, and safe shelter until they can be adopted into loving homes. ARNO also promotes responsible pet ownership through adoption programs, foster networks, and community outreach. Supported by volunteers, donors and other partners, ARNO works to reduce pet homelessness and improve animal welfare across the region.
