A woman has painfully and vividly opened up about her brutal and heartbreaking experience in Saudi Arabia.

Like many who go to the Gulf, Lilian Kwamboka was no different as he travelled in search of green pastures to provide for her family.
She argued that she had tried several menial jobs in the country that were not well-paying enough to support her and her family.

Where did Kisii woman want to go for work?
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Kwamboka claimed her mother connected her with another woman who would help her secure a job.
“That never materialised, as after a while, the lady said she had dropped her plans about Qatar, where I initially wanted to go. However, I never lost hope as I found another opening. I believed I was going to Qatar. I went for a one-week training course to understand the nature of my job and what would be expected of me.After the training, this other lady who had connected me with this agency and other young women like me bid us goodbye at the airport. That was when she revealed we would be going to Saudi Arabia. There was no turning back. I felt cheated and betrayed, but there was no way I was returning home with the challenges. I agreed to go to Saudi,” she narrated.

Upon reaching, Kwamboka from Kisii claimed no one received her; no employer or stranger was waiting for her.

She looked for a way around, trying to ask for leads and help, but all her efforts were futile.
Kwamboka sat on a stone, exhausted and stranded, plotting for her next move after finding herself in a mixed state.
“There was a man who approached and looked at me. He asked for my documents and scanned through them. He said he would be my employer, and out of desperation, I chose to follow him. We got into his car and drove away.He highlighted his likes and dislikes in the car, giving me rules and regulations before getting to his house. He spoke English, so I could understand all he said. However, I wouldn’t say I liked his tone since it seemed we were already beginning on a sour note, the woman from Kisii continued.

Why didn’t Saudi boss pay Kisii woman?
They reached the man’s home, where she met the family and saw their large house, which had 18 rooms.

She said her boss’s wife did not speak English, but she was a good woman to her who welcomed her warmly.
“I worked in the house for a month, but when it was my payday, the male boss asked me for many documents, including my KRA pin. I told him he could send money via Western Union, which was free. However, he refused, despite his wife pleading with him. We had to go to the nearest bank to confirm the transfer, which he did half-heartedly,” Kwamboka said.
Kwamboka said the disrespect and mistreatment worsened after she proved her boss wrong about sending money.

She recalled a day when she walked in on her boss poisoning her food after he asked her to carry shopping from her car.

“One day, the wife said she wanted to cook some foods they used to cook. Then she said she wanted to step out for a while and leave them in the oven, so she went to play with the kids. The man had gone to do some shopping, and then he returned. After shopping, the man carried the milk, potatoes, and the other small luggage into the house and left the others in paper bags for me.I collected all of them at once since they were in paper bags and carried them in. When I got to the kitchen door, I saw my boss standing over the plate that I had been served and pouring in poison. He got shocked and looked at me, not uttering a word,” Kwamboka recalled.
Since then, Kwamboka vowed never to eat food from that house unless she saw it being prepared or she prepared food for herself.

When was Kwamboka freed in Saudi Arabia?
Due to the tension between Kwamboka and her boss, it was not long before she was transferred to another house, where she worked for the boss’s relative.
“They had conspired against me because it was even worse than working for my boss. I remember this day when I was tied in the bedroom for three days. I was neither given food nor water by the boss. There was one worker there who would secretly give me some water, but when her boss found out, she warned her against continuing to do so,” Kwamboka recounted, adding taht she was let loose on the fourth day.
She was still forced to work, noting that she relied on salty tap water because she could not access clean water then.
