If your Gmail account isn’t performing today like usual, you’re not alone. According to the Google Workspace Status Panel, outages began around 5:00 a.m. Pacific Time on Saturday, and users are facing two main problems: incorrect classification of emails in the Inbox and additional spam warnings.
It was noted that the issues affected not only the general inbox but also sections usually labeled as Promotions and Social, and emails from well-known senders could be misinterpreted as spam.
Users on social media shared the following observations:
“All spam is now going straight to my inbox.”
– social media users
“Gmail filters suddenly broke completely.”
– social media users
Gmail outage status and official statements
Official information from Google indicates that the engineering team is actively working to restore normal operation of the email classification and spam filters.
“We are actively working to resolve the issue.”
While engineers work on the fix, users are advised to follow basic security practices: do not open suspicious links, carefully verify the sender’s address, and, if possible, use additional safeguards for the account, in particular two-factor authentication. It is also worth keeping an eye on updates on Google’s official channels regarding the restoration of normal Gmail service operation and the email classification systems.
