Attorney General warns Arkansans of tax refund scam texts, emails

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin has issued a consumer alert after Arkansas residents received scam texts and emails purported to be from the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration.

Attorney General Griffin said the messages claims to be notifications of tax refund request approval and direct recipients to share bank account information at a provided link.

Griffin said no government agencies will ask residents to share information about their bank account via text or email for a tax refund.

Arkansans are encouraged to report any scam texts they receive as “junk” and should delete any scam emails. The scam messages can also be sent to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov.
