Anna Sorokin is back on Instagram.
Sorokin — aka Anna Delvey — previously lost control of her social media as part of her ongoing immigration case, but on Aug. 16, her Instagram came back to life.
She posted a carousel of images, shot outside, with the simple caption, “Stockholm syndrome.” The photos, shot by Oliver Halfin, show Sorokin posing surrounded by flowers in a garden, in a car, enjoying the outdoors and showing off a bit of freedom amid her ongoing house arrest.

Sorokin has been banned from social media as part of the ongoing immigration case, which stemmed from her original grand larceny charges in 2019. On April 25, 2019, Sorokin was found guilty of eight charges, including attempted grand larceny in the first degree, grand larceny in the second degree, grand larceny in the third degree and theft of services. That May, she was sentenced to 4 to 12 years in state prison, fined $24,000, and ordered to pay restitution of about $199,000.

She went to prison but was released early in 2021. However, Sorokin was then taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for overstaying her visa in March that year.
On Oct. 5, 2022, Sorokin was granted release from an ICE facility in Orange County, N.Y., but she then had pay $10,000 bail, had to forfeit her social media and was placed on house arrest. She is currently serving out her house arrest in Upstate New York, living with famed fashion publicist Kelly Cutrone.

Sorokin was first arrested for posing as a German heiress and scamming socialites, banks and hotels out of money. At the time of her arrest in 2017, it was estimated that she had stolen $275,000. She had been labeled the “fake heiress” as her story made headlines, but as she recently told PEOPLE, she’s tired of the moniker.
“I hate it,” Sorokin said of the label that was bestowed upon her. “I think that’s the worst thing that ever happened to me in my life.”

Now that Sorokin has her social media back, she is planning to be more active and share what she’s been up to — including giving her stamp of approval to USA’s newest reality show The Anonymous, which is all about “deception.”
She tells PEOPLE, though, that she’s just looking forward to what’s next and she’s grateful for those who have been helping her with her ongoing case.
“I would like to thank Judge Conroy and my attorneys John Sandweg and Catherine Hunstad for helping to reinstate my social media — the first amendment is more important now than it has ever been,” Sorokin tells PEOPLE exclusively on Aug. 19. “I also want to thank over a million supporters who have been waiting for my return — I am truly excited about my future and look forward to sharing more news soon.”
