Are you proactively trying to lose weight?
We all go through agonizing intervals where we recognize the less we weigh, the easier it is to move around (and the less weight you have to carry on your ankles!).
And of course… it’s truly easy to *start* something for a few days… and then give it up those vanilla creme donuts beckon with their seductive call.
Eh. Life happens. However, when you’re truly serious about turning the key in your mind for your perfect body…. implement these 5 following weight loss tips that hardly anyone else will recommend.
Let’s first start with:
1.) Ditch the Organic Foods
It’s a common fallacy that organic foods contain less calories that non-organic foods because they are “healthier”. Not true. “Organic” has nothing to do with calorie weight.
The thing is, if you perceive something has “more nutrition”, chances are… you’ll eat more of it unwittingly.
The goal here is NOT to think anything you’re currently eating is “healthier” because of some marketing label. Instead, do your own research first and compare calories if that’s what floats your boat.
Speaking of research, let’s tackle how exercise flaps your earlobes. Be realistic and:
2.) Ditch the Cardio Bunny/Meathead Fitness Concepts
There’s also a common belief that the more you exercise, the more weight you lose.
That is most likely true, mind you. Thing is, if you’re trying to force yourself into exercise habits more foreign to you than Yoda’s long lost cousin…. you’ll start for a day or 4 and then just give it up because “it’s not you.”
The goal here is to find an exercise concept you can stick with! And it doesn’t have to be the gym…. you can start out as easy as walking laps in the house or pushing a shopping cart up and down a strip mall.
Do what works for *you* and to hell with everyone else. And that means:
3.) Embrace the Stares You Receive While Working Out
Alas, there are truly idjut people who will laugh at you if you’re fat and at the gym (Not at PlanetFitness, mind you, where you’ll always see bunches of overweight folk working out. Great place, that).
So imagine you’ve hefted your overweight self to a gym, or on a running track, or wherever… and you notice people staring at you with disapproval.
Now equate those people with their animal counterparts: Diseased cockroaches.
Would you let the opinions of diseased cockroaches change your belief in yourself?
I didn’t think so.
Never give others rent-free space in your mind. Everytime you see someone staring at you, think to yourself: “I just passed an escapee from the zoo’s zombie insect collection.”
The goal here is to STOP letting strangers stifle your personal greatness. Who cares what idjuts think?
And speaking of idjust, our next tip is:
4.) Realize The Vast Majority of Social Media Stuff You See Online… Are Sugar-Coated Highlight Reels
Ever get depressed when you see 3760476047 pictures from your friends whose lives are more perfect than 76 trombones that lead the big parade?
You know what I mean… those shares that scream out:
- I’m reclining on my white sandy beach with my MacGvyer manservant painting my toenails while I’m sipping on gourmet non-organic coffee!
- Here’s my perfect family acting perfect for 5 hours while at church or temple!
- OMG I’m losing 3 pounds a day from this simple weight loss pill that you can get for free (plus $39.97 shipping and handling and oh yes, I guess we should mention your credit card will be billed $297/month every month afterwards)!
Guess what.
Those are “highlight reels.” ie, the vast majority of people will NEVER post about the negatives in their lives… it always has to be sanitized for perfection.
Thing is, unless you realize that… you can fall prey to feeling, “Everyone else has it SOOO easy but not me…. WAH!!!!! Where’s my maple-frosted coffeecake roll????”
The goal here is to realize you’re comparing your real life to someone else’s highlight reel.
Don’t fall into that trap. And that brings us to:
5.) Honor All Of Your Challenges… Long Term
Make no mistake – turning the key in your mind and gaining the perfect body for you is a long-term challenge.
It probably took you years to pack on the pounds….
… and it will take you years to dissolve them all!
And that’s okay.
If you find yourself falling off the fabulous food wagon and indulging in 234 pounds of white chocolate covered macadamia nuts…. don’t let that be the trigger that says, “I blew it today…. so let’s just give up completely and finish the rest of the ton!”
Gaining the perfect body for *you* is a long term journey, packed with challenges and triumphs. Don’t let one roadblock cause you to build razor-sharp barbed wire fences so you give up completely!
Instead, accept it for what it was (what you chose to do), try to understand the root causes for your actions (and then see how to prevent them in the future), honor yourself and make things happen.
After all, your body deserves that!
