This year’s burgundy trend is morphing into something sweeter and darker with “Cherry Coded,” a theme that Pinterest said will have consumers infusing cherries into their makeup, menus and mood boards. Searches for “dark cherry red” are up 235 percent, while searches for “cherry vibe” up 325 percent.

Already evident in makeup—i.e. Chappell Roan’s drag-inspired glam—and in novelty knits, jewelry and home accessories, Pinterest sees cherries’ influence growing in other areas. Searches for “cherry car” are up 270 percent and searches for “cherry bedroom” are up 100 percent. The aesthetically pleasing fruit lends itself well to the martini revival as well, with searches for “cherry martini” climbing 80 percent.

The cherry theme sits comfortable next to Pinterest’s “Dolled Up” theme for 2025. Fueled by pop star Sabrina Carpenter’s retro Polly Pocket aesthetic, Pinterest is seeing searches grow for doll-inspired makeup, “cutecore” room ideas and “mini things” in general. In fashion, expect to see plastic-looking shoes (searches for “doll shoes outfit” are up 130 percent) and the trend for necklace charms to grow.

Urban Outfitters and Pinterest are teaming up to bring the trend to life through in-store pop-ups at select locations in New York, Los Angeles and Miami. The activations will offer femme-forward silhouettes, miniature collectibles, novelty items and charm necklaces.

The ultra-girl aesthetic is amplified in “Rococo Revival,” a trend that pulls from the extravagance of the late baroque period. While Gen Zers have adopted corsets as their signature going-out top, Pinterest sees consumers pushing the look further. Searches for “rococo outfit” are up 5,465 percent and searches for “rococo makeup” are up 70 percent.

Nostalgia for Sofia Coppola’s 2006 cult classic “Marie Antoinette” and TikToks about the annual Grand Masked Ball at Versailles are stirring up wedding ideas as well. Searches for “rococo wedding” and “rococo party” are up 95 percent and 140 percent, respectively. Searches for “rococo cake” are up 95 percent.

Consumers are getting caught up on the chivalry of knights as well. “Medieval is having a major moment. In 2025, Gen Z and Millennials will take home decor inspiration from ancient castles, while fashion and accessories will be gothic inspired,” Pinterest stated.

In “Castlecore,” consumers can combine costume and fantasy with estate sale gems. Searches “antique ruby ring” and “chainmail necklace” are up 50 percent and 45 percent, respectively.  Pinterest users are also searching for “blue medieval dress” and “castle house plans” to transform their bungalow into a fortress.

With searches for “medieval core” up 110 percent, expects to see more details that nod to the era like lacing, metal studs, filigree and velvet.

The metal look takes an edgy turn in “Moto Boho,” a bohemian theme that calls for chunky leather handbags, flowy skirts and moto boots. Led by Gen Z and Boomers, searches for “moto boot outfit,” “slouchy bag,” and “boho fits” are seeing triple-digit increases on Pinterest.

Spiritualism and mythology continue to inspire trends.

Consumers are trading in their cringey “office siren” aesthetic for a sultry and dark vibe inspired by sea sirens. Pinterest’s theme “Sea Witchery” offers a moody mermaid look with wet wavy hair, rich makeup and witchy vibes.

Searches for “witch outfits aesthetic” are up 40 percent, while searches for “dark mermaid makeup” and “dark siren makeup” are up 90 percent and 695 percent, respectively.

Beauty trends are also drawing inspiration from mood rings. Pinterest said Gen Z and Boomers are “driving this high hue look that’s all about honing in on a color aesthetic and flaunting it from chin to cheek.” Trending search terms include “aura effect,” purple blush makeup,” and “new wave makeup.”

Pinterest users are searching for ways to tap into their inner golden goddess as well, particularly Gen X and Boomers. Searches for “goddess core” are up 40 percent. Golden facials, goddess twist braids and goddess nails are some of the ways they’re reaching for divine beauty.

Several of Pinterest’s themes embrace a quirky sensibility to design.

The “Fisherman Aesthetic” offers a cozy and eclectic update to the more pristine coastal grandmother trend. Here, stripes, maritime-themed accessories and fish motifs mingle with practical items like cable knit sweaters and rain jackets.

Searches for “fisherman sandals” are up 30 percent and searches for “fish bag” are up 50 percent. Consumers are also searching for “raincoat outfit aesthetic,” up 35 percent. For a more permanent look, Pinterest is seeing searches for “sardine tattoo” grow 80 percent.

While individualism is still celebrated, Pinterest users are warming up to the idea of coordinating outfits with friends and partners to make a statement. Led by Gen Z and Boomers, Pinterest said collaborating on festival fits and aligning on date night looks will be the “topic du jour in the group chat.”

Trending search terms include “matching outfits for couples casual,” “coordinating outfits for friends” and “matching jerseys couples.” The trend is trickling into beauty too, with searches for “matching nails couples” up 35 percent.

Funky murals, stripes and unconventional shapes for furniture and other home décor make up “Primary Play.” Searches are growing for “contrast trim,” “hand painted wall pattern,” “door murals” and “cupboard painting.” This hands-on approach to color and pattern is also being carried into furniture with searches up 135 percent for “hand painted furniture.”

This use of patterns aligns well with “Mix and Maximalist,” a home trend that combines “brilliantly bold patterns, eclectic prints and delightful textures in all colors of the rainbow,” Pinterest stated.

With searches for “eclectic apartment” up 630 percent, Pinterest users are looking for ways to make even small spaces unique and personal. Other trending terms include “vintage maximalism,” “eclectic boho bedroom” and “eclectic maximalism.”
