In honour of the late Anant Rangaswami, a revered journalist and iconic figure in the advertising industry, Miami Ad School has announced the launch of The Anant Rangaswami Scholarship. This prestigious two-year program, valued at INR 50 lakhs, is set to support aspiring creative talents in copywriting and art direction. Anant Rangaswami, who passed away in May 2022, was widely regarded as a voice of reason and an influential critic within the advertising world. His career spanned both journalism and advertising, making him a formidable force in both industries. As the Editor of Melt, an advertising and marketing news platform, Rangaswami was known for his insightful commentary and deep understanding of the industry. Before Melt, he held the position of Editor at CNBC TV18’s Storyboard from 2013 to 2017 and was the founding editor of Campaign India. His editorial journey also took him to Firstpost as a senior editor. Before venturing into journalism, Rangaswami had a distinguished career in advertising, with leadership roles at TBWA, Star TV, Sony’s SET, and Times Television. His most recent work included co-authoring Open House, a book exploring Piyush Pandey’s creative genius.

This scholarship offers a remarkable opportunity for young creative talents to join Miami Ad School’s renowned portfolio program, which will commence on October 15, 2024. In addition to the academic experience, the program includes a one-year international internship with over 100 top-tier global companies and agencies. Students will gain real-world experience with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Google, Meta, Apple, Coca-Cola, Spotify, Disney, and Netflix. They will also work alongside advertising powerhouses like Leo Burnett, Ogilvy, Saatchi & Saatchi, Wieden+Kennedy, McCann, and BBDO.

Miami Ad School recognised as the most awarded advertising school worldwide according to the Gunn Report, continues to be a leader in creative education. This year, the school earned the title of Future Lions School of the Year at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, further cementing its reputation for excellence in design, writing, brand strategy, and digital innovation.

Prabhakar Mundkur, Advisory Director at Miami Ad School, remarked on the significance of this scholarship, stating, “Anant Rangaswami, veteran journalist and darling of the advertising industry, has left an indelible mark on all of us. His career was a blazing trail that intersected with all the advertising giants. He could place a call as easily to Sir Martin Sorrell as he could to Piyush Pandey, and he was equally comfortable with both of them. In his memory, Miami Ad School is offering this scholarship to nurture the next generation of creative talent, a fitting tribute to someone who was on the Advisory Board of the school.”

Pradyuman Maheshwari, head of Miami Ad School India, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing how deeply Rangaswami’s contributions to the advertising world are remembered. The scholarship in his name serves as a lasting legacy, offering the next wave of creative professionals a chance to follow in his footsteps.
