Married At First Sight UK 2024: Groom shocks his bride with ‘mean’ prank as fans meet the new cast

Married At First Sight UK 2024: Groom shocks his bride with ‘mean’ prank as fans meet the new cast

MARRIED At First Sight 2024 returned to our screens tonight – and there were tears, laughter and plenty of drama.

Now in its ninth season, the show is back as a host of new singletons hope to be match-made with the love on their lives.

The first episode kicked off with the the hen and stag parties, which were both considerably tame.

Groom and RAF airman Alex Henry did, however, manage to get the backs up of a fair few fans after suggesting to his new pals that they wife swap.

Fans were then treated to the first two weddings of the series.

Strangers Kristina and Kieran tied the knot first, followed by Emma and Caspar.

Initially, it appeared Kristina and Kieran were doomed before they had even begun after he wore a pair of unsightly false teeth to prank his bride.

But she thought it was wild – and it was Emma and Caspar who got off on the wrong footing.

Emma seemed utterly thrilled with her new husband, but Caspar just couldn’t get past the fact she looked just like his sister Daisy.

“If I’m being completely honest, she very much reminds me of my sister,” he told the MAFS UK cameras. Ouch.

MAFS UK is a ratings success, averaging two million viewers per episode last year, thanks to the mix of high-stakes romance and awkward introductions.

Tonight’s launch followed the news that one contestant Alex went AWOL from the RAF to appear on the show, and was jailed when he came back.

The 2024 season also features a dog walker and the show’s first deaf contestant.

The couples will be guided by experts Melanie Schilling, Paul C. Brunson, and Charlene Douglas.

You can follow our live coverage, below …

  • Clowning around

MAFS UK star Kieran used to be a clown.

If you didn’t already know this, the fact he wore an ugly pair of fake teeth on his wedding day might tell you.

Thankfully, his bride Kristina took it in great spirits, despite initially looking like she wanted to run away from him!

  • How many couples

Last night, we saw the first two couples tie the knot.

But how many newlyweds are there in the new series of MAFS UK?

Sixteen singletons have signed up to marry a complete stranger – and you can meet them all here.

There’s an office manager, a barber – and even an animal Reiki healer!

  • Say what?

Bride Kristina left fans wondering if they had heard correctly last night as she chatted about her job.

Viewers were left scratching their heads as she told the cameras what she does for her job.

Kristina, who married stranger Kieran in the first episode, revealed she is an ‘animal Reiki practitioner.

Sharing their thoughts on X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer said: “Animal reiki I’m screaming.”

  • Look-a-likes

Initially, it appears the experts had really got it right with Emma and Caspar on last night’s show.

Emma gave off Bridget Jones vibes, while Caspar revealed he had named his dogs after the characters in the hit romantic film.

But unfortunately, it all went downhill when Caspar caught sight of his new wife as she walked down the aisle.

Caspar thought Emma looked too much like his sister Daisy. And to be fair, he’s right…

  • Something blue

Although she is yet to tie the knot, we were given a brief introduction to fitness fan Sasha in the first episode of MAFS UK.

The pretty blonde was seen at the hen do as she chatted to the other brides about marrying a total stranger.

But before she landed her spot on MAFS UK, Sacha looked totally different.

The star can be seen in an unearthed pic sporting a head of bright blue hair – and it actually really suits her!

  • Toothy grin

You may have seen a groom with very bad teeth in the ads for the new series of MAFS UK.

Well, it was revealed in the first episode of the new series that groom Kieran was in fact wearing false teeth on his wedding day.

There was definitely a mixed response among fans of the show, with some thinking it was ‘cruel’, while others thought it was hilarious.

His bride Kristina found it funny – even though she was clearly going to do a runner at first sight.

What do you think? Was it mean or just a laugh?

  • Love is love

Tomorrow night’s MAFS UK will feature a same sex marriage.

Lettings operator Charlie will be seen tying the knot with lifeguard Eve – and they seem smitten with each other.

Eve’s first serious relationship was with a man and she was even due to get married to a guy at one point.

But at 26, Eve realised she was gay and has only had one serious relationship since then. She is now ready to find her special someone.

Eve said: “I want to find somebody that I fall in love with and I want somebody to fall in love with me.”

  • Next up

If you can’t wait for your next fix of Married At First Sight UK, you don’t have long.

The reality show will be back on E4 tomorrow night (Tuesday September 17) with two new nuptials.

The episode will feature a same sex couple and one groom who thinks his bride looks “nice”. Needless to say, she was expecting something a little more than that.

  • Two down

There we have it, the first two weddings have gone off without a hitch.

Well, if you ignore the fact that one groom thinks he’s married his sister… Small detail!

Next up, we have a same sex couple who seem smitten and a heterosexual couple that do not.

“You look nice,” the groom said to his bride in a preview of the next ep. Unsurprisingly, there were tears from his wife.

    OUCH.

  • Cold and ice

Caspar and Emma’s wedding appeared to take place during a very, very cold snap.

It looked so blooming freezing on their Big Day that I hope they now get a hot destination for their honeymoon.

Mind you, it isn’t helped by the frosty reception Caspar has given his new wife.

  • Happy tears

Well, that was a turn up for the books. It appears Kristina is completely on board with the idea of living in a caravan in the woods.

The sad tears were actually happy tears. Who knew?!

  • In tears

We have our first unhappy tears of the series.

Kristina has just discovered her groom Kieran lives in a caravan in the woods – and it has not gone down well.

It seems she can very much handle pranks involving fake teeth but NOT the thought of living in a mobile home.

    She was actually wailing!

  • Two peas

Emma and Caspar’s sister Daisy are two peas in a pod.

They look the same, they laugh the same. No wonder Caspar thinks he’s married his sibling.

But oh dear. Daisy drives him completely round the bend. This doesn’t bode well for his marriage with Emma.

  • Too much

    No, Kieran. Just no.

Who the hell wants their new groom to sing a song about their bride defecating on their chest at their wedding.

In fact, who would ever want their husband to sing this to them?

Kristina’s mum was NOT amused. Unsurprisingly.

    Her face said it all.

  • Moving on

I’m really not sure Caspar will be able to get past Emma’s resemblance to his sister.

Their wedding shoot was incredible awkward.

Caspar couldn’t even get his hands out of his pockets to give her a hug. He just looks like he wants to run away!

  • Brotherly love

I think it’s fair to say that Caspar isn’t overly thrilled about his new wife.

He thinks she’s attractive, but she reminds him of his sister. He couldn’t get through those wedding vows quick enough.

Emma on the other hand has zero clue that Caspar is currently having fears of incest and she is very happy with her husband.

He’s got to tell her. And boy, that’s going to be a seriously awks conversation.

  • No he didn’t

    Caspar just said the unthinkable.

“If I’m being completely honest, she very much reminds me of my sister,” he told the MAFS UK cameras, while talking about his new wife.

This isn’t ideal. Really not ideal.

  • I Do Take Two

    Here comes the second bride.

Emma is looking gorgeous and she will be delighted to see Caspar in a blue suit.

He appears to be getting the nod from all of her family too.

Could this be a match made in heaven? Or hell?

  • Fast mover

“She’s the most amazing girl I’ve ever met!” declared Kieran.

TEN WHOLE MINUTES AFTER MEETING Kristina.

    Bit full on, no?

  • Too loud

Anyone else needing a pair of ear plugs right now?

It seems the fact they both wanted to know how each other smell warrants ALL the screams.

Turn it down, newlyweds! At least she took the teeth in good spirits, though.

  • Toothy issue

The false teeth have not gone down with MAFS fans.

It seems the majority of viewers think it’s cruel for Kieran to pull this stunt on poor Kristina.

“Kieran and those fake teeth not a good idea to play a prank like that on your wedding day to a woman you’ve never met,” one said online.

Another added: “I would actually leave the wedding if I saw that at the end of the aisle because this is the ONE time that you have to be serious and you have in fake teeth?”

  • Joke’s on her

Poor Kristina. She’s had to walk down the aisle to be met by those teeth.

    This seems a little cruel…no?!

It’s not too late to bale, love! Runnnnn!

  • Psychic bride

Emma’s prediction is about to come true.

She seemed to have a very clear image in her head about what her groom will look like, with the main thing being that he will be in a “blue suit”.

    Is she psychic?!

  • Strange request

Kieran has so many questions about his wife-to-be.

He seems very concerned she might end up towering over him.

But how long his bride’s fingers are seems a VERY odd one.

Why exactly do you need to know that, Kieran? *Shudder*.

  • The big day

Here we go – our first wedding day of the new series!

One thing, though. We seem to have missed the scenes of the brides and grooms telling their families that they are going to marry a complete stranger.

That was always good for a laugh!
