TCL Unveils World’s Thinnest All-In-One TV

Not content with taking the value and king-sized parts of the TV market by storm in recent years, TCL now has designs – literally – on the ‘lifestyle’ TV market with its remarkable looking new NXTFRAME TV range.

The NXTFRAME TVs’ claims to fame start with TCL’s suggestion that at just 1.1 inch deep, it’s the thinnest ‘all in one’ TV in the world. Where all in one means it carries its connections and speakers on board rather than using an external connections box or audio system. TCL adds almost apologetically that the 85-inch version of the NXTFRAME TV Pro adds a whole .1 of an inch of extra depth, but given the vast screen acreage being supported on such a slim frame, I’ll let them off!

The NXTFRAME TV also features an unusual default off-white frame, but ships with a light wood colored frame included in the box that can fit magnetically over the default frame if you prefer it.

The NXTFRAME TVs from TCL are just 1.1 inch deep and ship with flush wall mounts, a white frame, and … [+] an optional wood finish bezel attachment.

An included flush wall mount allows TCL’s new ultra-slim designer TV to sit almost flat on your wall, while a highly matte anti-reflective screen of the sort also found on Samsung’s popular The Frame TVs soaks up room reflections to create the impression that you’re looking at a painting rather than a TV screen. Also like The Frame TVs, the NXTFRAME TV builds on this gallery effect by providing a gallery mode with access to both an Art Library and an AI Art feature that turn the TV into a painting or photo artwork when you’re not watching it in earnest. The TVs’ AiPQ processor is even capable of optimising the color, contrast, clarity and (with the ‘video’ artworks) motion of the artworks in TCL’s library.

These artworks include drawings, photographs, street art and more traditional paintings, plus you can add your own photographs and videos to the available stock. The AI Art feature, meanwhile, can use the answers you give to a short series of questions to generate unique custom artworks.

Stand that delivers

If you don’t want to hang the NXTFRAME TV on your wall, TCL will also be offering an optional Movable Floor Stand that enables the TV to be fixed onto an easel-style mount. The Movable Floor Stand includes attachable wheels to make it easy for you to set the TV up exactly where you want it, as well as a handy storage tray, a cable management system, and a decorative rear cover.

The screen can also be used as a background music player – and both this music playback and its handling of film and TV soundtracks can be taken to a whole other level if you step up to ‘Pro’ versions of the NXTFRAME TVs that ship with matching wireless 3.1.2 soundbars and subwoofers designed in conjunction with (very) premium European AV brand Bang & Olufsen.

This high-end audio system is combined with built-in Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and DTS Virtual:X playback, and features a proprietary B&O BeoSonic digital interface that makes it easy for customers to customize and refine the system’s sound.

Picture quality on both the standard and Pro NXTFRAME TVs, meanwhile, will benefit from native 4K Resolution, a wide gamut Quantum Dot colour system, a ‘High Brightness+’ LED backlight system, and support for all four of the main high dynamic range formats: HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. There’s plenty for gamers to look forward to, too, including gaming-friendly 120Hz/144Hz panels complete with VRR support (including AMD FreeSync Premium), a Game Accelerator feature that claims to deliver a 240Hz effect, and auto game mode switching.

The NXTFRAME TV range’s connections include four HDMI inputs (two capable of handling 4K/120Hz feeds, one with HDMI’s enhanced audio return channel technology), Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, while smart features are delivered by the Google TV Smart OS, backed up by Airplay 2, Amazon Alexa/Google Assistant voice control, and Apple HomeKit.

The core TCL NXTFRAME TV series is available already in 55 (55A300W) and 65-inch (65A300W) screen sizes, priced at $1,499.99 and $1,999.99 respectively, with 75-inch (75A300W) and 85-inch (85A300W) models available from September for $2,499.99 and $3,999.99. The Pro models with the additional B&O co-designed soundbar will also launch in September in the same screen sizes, priced at $1,999.99 for the 55-inch (55AW300WPRO), $2,699.99 for the 65-inch, $3,499.99 for the 75-inch, and $4,999.99 for the 85-inch. The optional floor stand for the TCL NXTFRAME TVs will also be available from September, alongside a pair of optional matching table feet, priced at $699.99 and $149.99 respectively.
