Stop us if youâve heard this before: Scottie Scheffler is the favorite to win this week.
Another major tournament, another time the World No. 1 has appeared at the top of the odds boards.
Thatâs right, heading into the 2024 British Open this week at Royal Troon, Schefflerâs odds are hovering around 5-1 to hoist the Claret Jug, now making him the odds-on favorite in all four majors this year.
Itâs rare air, for sure â something that hasnât been seen since Tiger Woods in his prime.
And while the 28-year-old from Texas has a long way to go to get to Woodsâ level, Scheffler is no doubt the best golfer currently walking the face of the earth.
FrontPageBets takes a look at Scheffler’s 2024 British Open odds, props and best bets heading into the year’s final major at Royal Troon.Â

He enters the Open Championship in his 60th consecutive week at No. 1 on the Official World Golf Rankings.
After turning pro in 2018, Scheffler has won nearly 10% of his PGA Tour starts and finished in the top five 33% of the time.
Since the 2021-22 season, Scheffler has played in 63 events, winning 12 of them and finishing second in eight. Think about that: In the last three years, heâs won 19% of his starts and finished in the top two 32% of the time.
This season alone, Scheffler has six wins in 15 starts â all of them before July. Those victories include the Masters, The Players Championship and two of the most prestigious non-majors on the schedule â Arnie and Jackâs tournaments, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Memorial.
Oh, by the way, the last player to have six wins in a single season before the month of July was Palmer in 1962.
Scottie Scheffler 2024 British Open Odds & Props
This week, Scheffler will be playing in just his fourth career Open Championship. Heâs never missed a cut in the previous three. In fact, heâs never finished outside the top 23.
His best finish was his first British Open in 2021 at Royal St. Georgeâs, where he finished T8. In 2022, he finished T21 at St. Andrews, and last year was T23 at Royal Liverpool.
Currently, heâs +500 to win his first Claret Jug this week, and just about even odds to finish in the top 10 at Royal Troon.
Below are more Scheffler Open Championship odds and props:
- First-round leader: +1400
- First-round Top 5: +275

- To win by 3 or more shots: +1000

Scottie Scheffler enters this week as the betting favorite and the No. 1 ranked golfer, while World No. 2 Rory McIlroy enters this week at Royal Troon looking for his first major championship in 10 years. He was this-close at the U.S. Open last month at Pinehurst, if not for missing two short par putts in the final three holes that left him on the outside looking in on Bryson DeChambeauâs victory.
If McIlroy wants to break the streak, heâll have to beat Scheffler. And currently, the Northern Irishman is the underdog in head-to-head matchups, according to the odds board. Currently, Scheffler is -135 to win over 72 holes while McIlRoy is +120, and a tie for the two after four rounds is +1600.Â
This season, Scheffler leads the PGA Tour in Greens in Regulation, hitting nearly 75% of them and is second in proximity to the hole at 34-feet, 4 inches.
Heâs also No. 1 on Tour in Strokes Gained: Total, Strokes Gained Tee to Green and Strokes Gained Approach to the Green.
If thereâs one weakness to his game, itâs with the flat stick. Schefflerâs currently 89th in putting, but thatâs way up from last year where he was 162nd. Consider this, however, heâs No. 1 in putting average this season and is 28th in putts per round with an average of 28.4.
Simply put: Scheffler is the favorite for a reason ⦠this week and every week.
Thatâs why heâs at the top of the Group A board to go lower than three of the worldâs best golfers, including the last two major champions.

Scottie Scheffler: Major Championship Results
Scheffler has devoured majors since teeing it up at Augusta National in April of 2022. Not only did he win his first Masters that week, heâs also been on a tear that is rivaled by few.
In his last 11 majors, Scheffler has seven top-10 finishes, including two wins (2021 and 2024 Masters), one runner-up (2022 U.S. Open) and one third-place finish (2023 U.S. Open).
He missed just one cut (2022 PGA Championship) in those 11 major starts, with a T41 (2024 U.S. Open) being his worst finish in the other 10. Nine times he finished in the top 25.
