Revamped Money Hacks podcast to serve you useful tips weekly

YOU asked. We are going to deliver. Here’s why.

Listener feedback to The Business Times podcast team has indicated a greater demand for personal finance management tips, especially in light of recent black swan events such as the Covid-19 pandemic.

In response, I went to my Head of Audio and suggested that it is time to make Money Hacks – The Business Times’s (BT) flagship podcast a weekly programme. She agreed.

From fortnightly to weekly

Money Hacks has come a long way since it was first produced in 2018. It started out as a monthly podcast covering topics ranging from maximising credit card points to getting an introduction to exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

In 2021, it was converted into a fortnightly podcast that is put out every first, third and fifth Monday of the month. It is now into its 175th episode and counting.

Beyond financial security, many people have developed a stronger desire for financial freedom in recent years. They hope to achieve a better work-life balance by making their money work harder for them.

A NEWSLETTER FOR YOU

Asean Business

Business insights centering on South-east Asia’s fast-growing economies.

We are happy to see that this has been accompanied by a greater sense of financial prudence. More and more people are realising that creating shock-proof portfolios requires careful curation. While we shouldn’t take potentially perilous financial risks in the hope of making a killing, at the same time, we shouldn’t play it safe to the point of rendering our returns negligible.

In the revamped Money Hacks, we will present easy-to-follow money management tips that can help people start their journey or be integrated into their existing financial management strategy.

What’s in it for listeners

We will be exploring personal finance solutions and wealth growth strategies that people don’t necessarily consider at the start of their investing journey and revisit these strategies as you grow your money.

Having listened to sound advice on our podcast and armed with creative strategies to save and grow their wealth, we hope you will become more at ease and confident in making smart money decisions.

Aside from personal finance and investment experts, we aim to speak more frequently to people who are willing to share their money management and growth journeys.

We welcome anyone reading this to get in touch at btpodcasts@sph.com.sg. Tell us your story. It could become one of the themes we discuss on our podcast.

What will be different

We will not be speaking to one or a few selected financial “gurus” on a single issue. Our aim is to provide diverse voices and perspectives. For instance, if we’re going to discuss building a retirement nest egg, we will speak to people of various ages who are at different stages of their investment journeys.

A successfully retired individual would have a very different perspective from someone who is still working and shouldering heavy financial commitments. A younger person starting early would have very different concerns from someone who is starting later on in life.

Paired with advice from experts in various fields of finance, we hope to become a partner to our listeners who are finding ways to fulfil their financial aspirations.
