As 2024 comes to a close, there are many aspects of the new year to look forward to: refreshed regimens, memorable events, and, of course, exciting home trends to try. After meticulously scanning its internal data from September 2022 to August 2024, Pinterest came up with a list of must-know trends expected to take hold in 2025.
As we say goodbye to quiet luxury, color drenching, and clustercore, Pinterest is giving us a peek into the top design ideas that will be displayed in homes in the coming year.
1. Cherry Coded
According to Pinterest, rich red hues are in, kicking neutrals to the curb. Lately, deep reds have been trending in many realms of culture—think decor, fashion, and beauty. Nails, lipstick, sweaters, and beanies have all been influenced by this color trend, acting as the cherry on top of any outfit.
Anticipate cherry-colored everything in the home—from bold red couches to crimson bedrooms. To incorporate this popular color into your home, consider elevating your kitchen with a red bar cart or a set of champagne flutes.

2. Blank Canvas
Every part of your home can benefit from some personal flair—even your doorframe. In 2025, Pinterest anticipates increased creativity, with people turning their homes into their canvas. Fun and vibrant murals will be drawn onto furniture, hand-painted accent walls are on the rise, and even door murals are on trend for next year.
If you see an empty wall in your bathroom or living room, consider a refresh with some paint and brushes. Even if you don’t have an artistic touch, murals can range from novice to Picasso. And if an entire wall seems too daunting, try starting on a smaller scale with a side table or lampshade.

3. Modern Surrealism
2025 will channel a modern take on a 1920s art movement through decorative tablescapes and dream-like soirees. Pinterest Predicts a revival in surrealism, with a 70% increase in searches for modern surrealism and a substantial rise in Salvador Dali aesthetic explorations.
The next time you host, elevate your spread with modern surrealism. Consider funky-shaped candlesticks placed in an extravagant, eye-catching candelabra. Pinterest also notes a 30% increase in flower bouquet cake searches, so, for dessert, consider this creative take on a centerpiece by transforming the classic dessert into a collection of wildflowers.
4. Rococo Ruffles
In 2024, we saw a rise in Regencycore thanks to a new season of Bridgerton, but the French decor inspiration doesn’t stop there. Influenced by the Regency era, Rococo is an architectural style boasting intricate curved lines, natural motifs, luxe materials, and pastel shades. Varying from Regency, Rococo focuses on ornate decor patterns and a sense of lightness.
Pastel pink is a definitive color for this late Baroque art style. Consider incorporating the playful shade into your home decor with textiles like curtains or tablecloths. Rococo is also known for its curved lines, so kick the sharp edges out and opt for flowing furniture like rounded sofas.

5. Decor to the Max
Maximalism showed up in bold ways this year, and it’s here to stay, according to Pinterest. The report claims Gen X and Boomers will be mixing and matching playful patterns, eclectic aesthetics, and unique textures to create rooms full of excitement in every corner.
Contrasting animal prints, vibrant colors, funky coffee tables, and decorative area rugs will evoke a sense of maximalism in your home. Introduce unexpected colors to your home with accent pillows or paintings, and even consider unconventional vases for your plants (cowboy boot vase, anyone?).

6. Castlecore
Pinterest also spotlights medieval and castle decor as an ongoing trend. In Etsy’s gifting trend report, the online marketplace similarly called out mythical motifs for inspiration this year. And the dynamic witch duo Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo revived castle charm in Wicked.
Abundant candlesticks, stone accents, iron or wooden chandeliers, and dramatic tapestries will channel this mystifying decorating theme.

7. Gone Fishing
Pinterest reeled in a certain nautical trend to inspire those who dwell where the land means the sea: the fisherman aesthetic. Sardine decor and even sardine tattoos appeared this year, and people are catching onto a whole aesthetic filled with stripes and draped netting.
According to the report, cable-knit depicts the classic fisherman, and incorporating this pattern can be made easy with a throw blanket or pillow. Decoupage oyster shells for coffee table decor, and don’t forget to display your favorite fishing tools in a wall collage among photos from your most memorable voyages.
