Did you know that August 8 is International Cat Day? Many of us proud cat parents already celebrate our feline friends all 365 days of the year, but there’s never a bad excuse to give our benevolent kitty overlords a little extra love and attention. Our cats are bonkers, they’re sassy, they’re silly, and sometimes they straight-up drive us crazy… but darn it if they’re not purr-fect all the same.
So why not kick off this International Cat Day with a few feline-related funnies? Whether you’re a Maine Coon’s mama, a Domestic Shorthair’s dad, or a parent to a pair of Persians, we all appreciate our kitties’ quirks, so we thought we’d kick off the festivities early with a few memes answering one very important question: why are cats so awesome?

10. They Also Help You Remember To Do the Laundry
Love means always keeping a lint roller by the front door, in case your furry friend decides to hit you with a last “goodbye leg rub” before you go off to work.

12. They Make Sure We Take Self-Care Days
Sometimes you’ve just gotta call in “sick” and take a self-care day. And by “self-care day,” I really mean a “cuddle your cat all day” day. That’s pretty much the same thing, right?
13. They Keep Us From Starving to Death
We feed them kibble so they don’t starve, they hunt mice for us so we don’t starve. It’s a quid pro quo situation.
