The Central Boulevard Veterinary Hospital in Brentwood said pet ashes were stolen from their facility during a break-in early Saturday morning.
The veterinary hospital added that the ashes were waiting to be returned to their families.
Authorities asked anyone who sees any pet ashes, urns, paw prints or containers discarded anywhere in Brentwood or the surrounding areas to contact them immediately.
“We are not concerned about anything else that was taken — we just want to return these pets to their homes. No family should have to experience this level of grief again,” the veterinary hospital wrote on a social media post.
The hospital said they are working with the Brentwood Police Department, and they have obtained footage of the incident and the suspects.
NBC Bay Area reached out to Brentwood police on Saturday morning but hasn’t heard back.
