2 pets die in overnight house fire in York County


Emergency crews responded to a house fire early Saturday morning in Stewartstown.

According to Eureka Volunteer Fire Department, the fire was reported around 2:23 a.m. at a home in the 16000 block of West Liberty Road.

Two pets died from the fire, the department said. One person was reportedly trapped on the second floor but jumped out of a window to safety.

Crews contained the fire and operated on scene for about three hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation from the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal, according to the fire department.
