FERRIDAY, La. — There was no one at home during a Monday morning house fire on Fifth Street in Ferriday that destroyed the home.
Ferriday Fire Department and other first responders were dispatched to the house fire at 1809 Fifth Street at approximately 9:15 a.m. on Monday.
Two dogs did not make it out of the burning house, whose owners were out of town at work, according to a neighbor. A third dog that was in the home had been rushed to the vet.
At 11 a.m. Monday, the house still smouldered while Concordia Parish and Ferriday firefighters worked to put it out. An ambulance remained on standby to assist firefighters.
