The longest active playoff drought in North American professional sports is held by the New York Jets, who have not made the NFL playoffs since the 2010 season. Will the 2025 season mark the end of that streak? According to top New Jersey sportsbooks, it’s unlikely.

It’s a new era for the Jets; Joe Douglas, Robert Saleh and Aaron Rodgers are gone. They have been replaced by Darren Mougey, Aaron Glenn and Justin Fields. When you think of Super Bowl contenders, the Jets might be one of the last teams to come to mind. With that being said, there are odds available. Let’s take a look at the Jets’ odds in the most popular futures categories.

If we’re looking at these odds realistically, we’re saving our money and not making a donation to the sportsbook by betting on the Jets to win the Super Bowl or AFC. For the Jets to win the AFC East, it would likely require an injury to Josh Allen and things going very wrong in Miami and New England.

There is a world where this Jets team can get to around 8 or 9 wins and compete for a playoff spot. This is a team that went back-to-back seasons, winning seven games with Zach Wilson as their quarterback. Justin Fields should be an upgrade on that.

The defense retains a lot of key pieces, such as Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner. On offense, Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall are the skill position players to monitor behind a solid offensive line and mobile quarterback.

Jets future bets to make

Over 5.5 wins (-145, FanDuel)

The Jets won just five games last season and then parted ways with key players such as Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams and D.J. Reed.

However, if you look at the two seasons before then, they won seven games each campaign with Zach Wilson running the show. When the Jets acquired Rodgers, some thought it made them a legitimate contender in the AFC.

While that obviously wasn’t the case, it seems like the market is underrating the Jets as a reaction to what was a mess of a season last year. The Rodgers situation didn’t work out at all and it cost Robert Saleh his job.

The hope is that Aaron Glenn can come in and instill a culture that gets the Jets

defense back to the hard-fighting, gritty group they were prior to last season. Combine that with three recent first-round picks on the offensive line and a quarterback upgrade from Wilson to Fields, and there is hope for this team to easily reach six wins.

Garrett Wilson over 925.5 yards (-120, DraftKings)

If there’s one major weakness on this Jets’ roster, it’s the passing game. Justin Fields has yet to establish himself as an NFL-level thrower of the football in his young career. A look at the Jets’ wide receiver depth chart is frightening. Allen Lazard and Josh Reynolds are the next two options up behind Garrett Wilson. That’s a very thin depth chart.

Wilson is entering his fourth NFL season, and he’s surpassed 1000 yards in each of his first three seasons. This is despite catching passes from Zach Wilson in his first two seasons and needing to deal with Davante Adams dominating targets last season.

Fields has shown inconsistency as a passer in his career so far, but the Jets are going to have to throw the ball at certain points in games. When they are forced to throw, Fields won’t have many options besides Wilson that he can trust. I can see Wilson commanding the highest target share in the league based on how much better he is than every other pass catcher on this roster.

As long as he stays healthy, Wilson should record his fourth straight 1000+ yard campaign to begin his career. Betting over 925.5 yards at DraftKings Sportsbook seems like a no-brainer.

Aaron Glenn to win NFL Coach of the Year (+1600, DraftKings)

Since we have yet to start the season, there’s nothing wrong with being optimistic and hopeful. If Aaron Glenn was to win NFL Coach of the Year, it would mean the Jets had a highly successful season.

The prerequisites are in place for Glenn and the Jets. He’s in his first year with a team and the expectations are extremely low. There was also no major player acquisition that could take or share credit with Glenn if things are turned around.

We’ve talked about how the Jets can likely compete for 8 or 9 wins if the culture changes attempted by Glenn pay dividends. This would represent a team playing meaningful games in December and a team with potential to sneak into the final wild card spot.

In recent years, we’ve seen quarterbacks like Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold go from early drafted disappointments to solid NFL quarterbacks. It wouldn’t be totally shocking to see Fields join that list.

If the Jets can sneak into a playoff spot and Fields’ career is revitalized, Glenn would have a very good case for NFL Coach of the Year.
