K-9 police dog goes viral after hilarious moment with a traffic cone

A California police dog named Adonis went viral after getting hilariously outwitted by a traffic cone.

A police dog found himself in a bit of an embarrassing situation after getting outwitted by an unlikely suspect.

Adonis, a four-and-a-half-year-old German shepherd K-9 with San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office in San Carlos, California, was captured wrestling with a traffic cone, biting and grappling with it, before it slid down over his face, causing him to crash into a metal pole.

“Sometimes Mondays hit different… like when your K-9 partner gets his head stuck in a traffic cone,” the sheriff’s office joked in an April 20 post on Facebook. “Not to worry, K-9 Adonis is perfectly fine (minus a little embarrassment).”

Adonis’ little adventure, however, won the heart of the internet, with the video of him garnering more than two million views on the sheriff office’s Facebook page.

“Thank god someone is keeping us safe from rogue traffic cones,” a commenter wrote. Another said: “You know what? That officer is more prepared than most. Give him a raise.”

Adonis is trained in narcotics detection and patrol

San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, in a post on Facebook, said Adonis has been with the Sheriff’s Office for three and half years, serving with his partner, Deputy Brandt.

“When he’s not being a goofball and rising to global fame,” Adonis is “dedicated to keeping our communities safe.”

The “dual-purpose K-9” is trained in narcotics detection and patrol and is one of 17 K-9s assigned to the sheriff’s office.

“We’re so glad everyone loved (and laughed at) Adonis as much as we do,” the sheriff’s office said.
