In their statement the depatment said, “Today we were made aware of an email SCAM reporting to be from the Village of East Aurora Planning Division.  The e-mail was an attempt to obtain thousands of dollars. Neither the Village of East Aurora or Town of Aurora will ever contact you online via e-mail to solicit you for money outside of normal utility bills, permits and licenses. We caution if something doesn’t seem right, it probably isn’t.”

Police say that if you ever have questions on whether or not an email from East Aurora Government is legitimate, contact the Village of East Aurora at 716-652-6000, or call the Town of East Aurora at 716-652-7596.
