A new ordinance in Knoxville will limit how many pets a homeowner can own.
The Knoxville City Council approved the measure that will limit a household to just four dogs, cats, or monkeys.
The change will take effect on January 1.
City officials said they passed the ordinance to address concerns about health, sanitation and noise associated with keeping large numbers of animals in a household.
The new measure is not sitting well with one homeowner.
Jamie Fuller owns 30 monkeys.
She says the new ordinance will force her to move.
A spokesperson for Zoo Knoxville weighed in on the issue.
The spokesperson said monkeys have complex physical, behavioral and social needs that are difficult to meet in a household and says monkeys are not appropriate pets.
