Google has announced Gemini 4 Argon but is still limiting its availability. Gemini 4 Argon is designed for complex work in software engineering, legal and finance tasks, and cybersecurity defence. Google is first giving access to selected cybersecurity defenders through its Fairwind Program. The company is also taking part in a US government process for pre-release model access. The model has a 1 million-token output limit and will have an introductory API price of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens.
Why has Google not released Gemini 4 Argon yet?
Google has not made Gemini 4 Argon available to all developers, enterprises and consumers because it is still testing the model’s safety measures and collecting feedback from early users. Google is also participating in the US government’s voluntary process for pre-release AI model access.
Who can use Gemini 4 Argon now?
The first users are trusted cybersecurity defenders taking part in Google’s Fairwind Program. Google’s own teams also have access. These users receive Argon without cyber guardrails so they can test its capabilities in security work. Security company Wiz is using the model through its Scan for Good initiative. Google says Argon found a critical vulnerability in healthcare software used by hospitals worldwide.
Live Events
Thousands of Google employees are already using Argon. Its agents have helped migrate C and C++ code to Rust and have freed more than 300 TiB of memory across Google data centres.
Gemini 4 Argon safety concerns and testingGoogle says it is adding safeguards against misuse involving biological, chemical, radiological and nuclear attacks. It is also working on protection against indirect prompt injection.
Gemini 4 Argon benchmarks and price
Google says Argon scored 77.9% on DeepSWE v1.1 and 68% on CWE-bench. Its output limit has increased from 64,000 to 1 million tokens. The introductory API price is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. Paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers are expected to receive access after the initial cybersecurity phase.
