Many canine parents have had interesting experiences with dogs who love to dig, to say the least. Sometimes, they will dig up turf, a garden, or anything they can find in the backyard.
So, while this is likely a familiar scenario to many canine parents, what the dog in this video did could still be considered next-level.
There’s digging, and then there’s attempting to journey to the center of the earth, like the dog in this video. Or should we say dogs?
After all, before this dog manages to free themselves from the sizable hole that they’ve created, their tiny canine sibling also makes an escape.
And with the way they crawled out, having to squeeze between their canine siblings’ hind legs, it looks like they were pretty desperate to get out. They almost look like they just dug their way out of prison.

Quite comically, the main culprit here does finally emerge in reverse, pulling on something as they try to get out. What were they pulling on?
Their own collar, which somehow managed to slip off their neck as they were trying to dig this hole to China. We think it’s safe to say that whatever this dog was up to, it was not a part of their human’s landscaping plans.

There are plenty of reasons why a dog might dig when they are not supposed to. They could be bored or stressed out if they are not getting enough stimulation, for example. Or maybe they are digging in an effort to hunt for prey?
Excessive digging could also just be an attention-seeking behavior. But if a dog is injuring themselves, other animals, or damaging property due to their excessive digging, then this behavior needs to stop.
Remedies for excessive canine digging include making sure to walk a dog at least twice a day, playing with them using active toys, such as tennis balls or flying discs, and enrolling them in training classes.
