Melinda holds out a spoon in the kitchen, and the tiny rescue puppy stretches up on his back legs to reach it. Once he gets a taste, he settles into the position and just stays there.
His paws remain planted on the bigger dog while his tongue keeps working through every bit of the sticky treat. The @lovephillydogs video catches his wide eyes, little lip smacks, and even his tail wagging in the oven’s reflection. He looks completely satisfied with his arrangement, and apparently, so is the bigger dog.

When the video opens, the spoon with the peanut butter has already been offered to Monkey. He stretches onto his back legs and braces his front paws against the bigger dog beside him. Melinda holds the peanut butter close, and Monkey gets straight to work. There is a lot of licking. A lot. His tongue keeps darting out as he works through the thick spoonful, and every half a second he smacks his lips. And somehow, he maintains that awkward little stance throughout the snack.
His tail is wagging, too. It can actually be seen moving in the reflection of the oven behind him. The caption is simply, “This is Monkey. He likes peanut butter.” The understatement did not go unnoticed. The video has now passed 2.5 million views and has more than 222,000 likes. One viewer joked that Monkey was “licking for 40 days and 40 nights,” while another wondered why the video felt like it was “25 minutes long.”
The bigger dog got plenty of attention too. One commenter said their favorite part was Monkey being “propped up on another dog.” Another skipped the question of what breed the dog might be and asked, “What’s the other one’s name? Table?”
There’s a little more to Monkey’s story, too. He is staying with Melinda as a temporary foster for a couple of weeks before heading off to find a permanent home. His foster mom has also clarified that the peanut butter he gets is xylitol-free and given in moderation. As for Monkey himself, his foster mom says he has a few things to clarify: he doesn’t just like peanut butter. He absolutely loves it. That part was already pretty obvious.
