Have you seen success online yet?
If not, not to fear. Here’s a little secret not a lot of people talk about:
Just about *nobody* starts out confident when trying to make money online.
Most folks begin with an unsettling mix of curiosity, nerves, and a faint hope that maybe, just maybe, they won’t fall flat on their face.
But actual confidence? That comes later.
Sometimes *much* later.
If you’re sitting there thinking, “Who am I to do this?” – you are SO definitely not alone. Most people feel that way in the beginning!
But there’s one trick you can try that is almost guaranteed to be a success – act anyway! You don’t need a master plan or a five-year strategy. You just need that one small, teeny tiny step. And at the very beginning, it doesn’t even have to *focus* on that last step before a buyer clicks the Buy Button… it could be something like:
- Signing up for a free tool.
- Jotting down an idea.
- Watching a tutorial.
Tiny moves.
That’s what builds momentum.
And yep, it might be true: The fear doesn’t vanish overnight.
But when you take action – even while unsure – you *teach* your brain, “Hey, I’m doing something new and exciting and I didn’t implode!” Now *that’s* fertile ground… and your confidence? Well, it grows from there.
Don’t wait to feel ready. “Ready” is often a lie your brain tells you to keep you comfy! Comfort zones are delightful, sure, but nothing really happens in them; they’re simply there to protect you.
But when you give yourself permission to step out? You might take that first step on the journey towards creating that *confidence* you crave. The one that affords you the ability to post your first product or ask for a sale.
Such things – they come after you try. Not before.
Still unsure?
Alrighty, let’s try this. Consider shifting your focus from inwards to outward. Instead of worrying if you’re good enough, ask: “Who could this help?” Sharing something useful – even something tiny – can totally flip the script!
Why? Because suddenly, it’s not about you.
It’s about helping someone else.
That’s powerful stuff.
And messing up? Making mistakes? Yep, that’s going to happen, sometimes ‘waaay more than you could ever want (again and again and again and again and …). You’ll write the awkward sales email. Launch the thing nobody buys. Post something that flops worse than limp spaghetti in a raw pasta contest. And yes. I just made up that analogy. ChatGPT did not. That is a glorious analogy! Wow. My writing is becoming one with the Universe! Why, soon I’ll be able to….
Ooops. Got a bit carried away there.
Where was I? Ah yes, messing up. Maybe people will call you a failure. Maybe you’ll call yourself a failure? Take it from me, don’t add to it all yourself – calling yourself a failure is like smacking your head against a brick wall because it feels sooo good to stop. Actually, it’s nothing like that whatsoever, but I’m in the zone now, writing wise, so I’ll simply continue! I will make no apologies for *totally* derailing the beauty and magnificence of this powerfully insightful post because you know something rather fascinating about me?
I’m not afraid of looking ridiculous.
I’m not afraid of what people might say about me.
And that lack of fear? That provides *power*. That gives you the ability to boldly stand up against all of your fears and past baggage and disapproval from people you imagine must be making fun of you (but in reality, don’t even give you a second thought) and then say:
“My knowledge is *worth* sharing, even if I cannot get the right message out there to the right people!”
(For example, you specialize in the new Fandom of the latest K-Pop Demon Slayers and try to sell Print on Demand merch to grandmas who prefer knitting, or you sell mindfulness digital planners but direct your sales pitch to agents of chaos, that kinda sorta thing…. in other words, you have not a clue how to actually *sell* your knowledge…)
See, it’s okay to fail once, twice, thirty-seven times, however many times it requires until you finally buy that clue and get things *right*.
So messing up? Yep. It’ll smoosh you a wee bit. But you’ll learn a lot.
And next time?
You’ll take the gift of knowledge you gained from your last failure and possibly, just maybe, use that to springboard to your future success.
Every misstep is part of the process, you see. That’s not failure – that’s *experience*. You don’t need to be perfect to earn online. You really don’t!
You just need to be willing to learn in public and shed your ego and evolve.
What else would help with confidence? Discover the peoples who have already bought the earlier aforementioned clue! People who remember how Day One felt. Folks willing to listen and help you out. Being around others on similar paths makes a huge difference! You can even borrow the courage of someone who believes in you… just until yours kicks in.
So! At the end of the day, the best way to build confidence is simple:
Try something.
Anything.
A test post. A freebie. A $5 offer. Something that helps you earn 5 Bucks a Day. Doesn’t have to be big or flashy – it just has to be *yours*.
Remember: every time you take positive, action, you’re proving to yourself that you *can* create a success in this particular niche. And that proof? That’s where your future real confidence lies.
You don’t have to be fearless. You just need to *begin*.
Enjoy!
