Saturday Night Live was new this week, and with it came a new edition of “Weekend Update.” The news parody sketch, hosted by Colin Jost and Michael Che, tackled recent headlines around the election of Zohran Mamdani as mayor of New York City, the government shutdown and more.
They also tackled the news this week that future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady was able to clone his dog from his last dog. The joke perfectly discussed the situation, bringing it back to football and his longtime target of tight end Rob Gronkowski.
“Tom Brady announced that his current dog is actually a clone of his previous dog who passed away two years ago,” Jost said in the set up. “Brady also revealed that during his career, he went through eight Gronks.”
