SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System is changing the way students access their accounts after a phishing email was “discovered and accessed” by a student.
In a letter emailed to parents today, November 21, 2025, SCCPSS says “our Information and Cybersecurity Team identified a phishing email targeting student accounts” earlier today.
Any student with an email from an outside source with the subject line “Important Update: Your SCCPSS Account” should refrain from clicking on any links or opening any attachments in the message, SCCPSS says.
The school system says this afternoon before dismissal, “school teams provided students an option to sign into the system and create a multi-factor authentication (MFA) that will enable access to their accounts during the holiday break.”
Any student who was not able to create an MFA while at school today will not have access to email, Class link, and other District resources during the holiday.
SCCPSS says all systems will be fully functional and available when students return on Monday, December 1, 2025.
