OPPO partners with Instagram to launch creator development initiative

New Delhi: OPPO India has partnered with Instagram to launch the OPPO LUMO Creator Program, a platform designed to support content creators through challenges, mentorship, learning opportunities and content distribution initiatives.

According to the companies, the programme is targeted at emerging creators, including micro and nano influencers across different regions of India. It combines OPPO’s mobile imaging technology with Instagram’s content distribution platform.

The programme will include monthly themed challenges focused on youth culture, everyday experiences and regional stories. Participants will be able to submit entries on Instagram using designated campaign hashtags, with content evaluated on engagement, creativity, originality and cultural relevance.

As part of the collaboration, OPPO said it is introducing near-lossless Instagram uploads on its Find X series smartphones, allowing users to share videos with minimal loss of image quality from capture to upload.

Commenting on the partnership, Goldee Patnaik, Head of Communications at OPPO India, said, “At OPPO, our philosophy of ‘Make Your Moment’ is rooted in enabling youth to capture and share their stories in authentic, impactful ways. With Instagram, we are building a program that brings this vision to life, putting the power of storytelling into the hands of millions of young creators across the country. This is not just about showcasing our imaging capabilities, but about enabling a new generation of India to be seen, heard, and discovered, while shaping a culture where creativity and self-expression truly thrive.”

Simon Liu, Global Imaging Director, OPPO, added, “Today’s creators don’t just capture moments, they shape culture. With LUMO Imaging, our goal is to make powerful and effortless imaging experiences accessible to everyone. We have designed our imaging systems to adapt to real-life scenarios – whether it’s shooting in low light, capturing motion, or creating expressive portraits, so creators can focus on their story, not the settings. India’s creator energy is unmatched, and we are proud to build imaging experiences that are truly made for this generation.”

For Instagram, the partnership represents a collaboration with a smartphone manufacturer centred on creator-focused experiences and content discovery.

Rishad Chindamada, Vertical Head for Tech, Meta (India), said, “Creator partnerships are no longer just an engagement play, they’re a business driver. The OPPO LUMO Creator Program positions Instagram Reels as the canvas where hardware innovation meets every day storytelling, translating product capabilities into authentic, relatable narratives. By empowering grassroots creators across regional India, we’re delivering both cultural relevance and tangible business impact for brands.”

The programme includes monthly contests, content amplification opportunities, creator workshops, mentorship sessions and a Meta-OPPO certification for selected winners. Top entries may also be showcased internationally, according to the companies.

In addition, OPPO will launch a vodcast series featuring speakers from the creator ecosystem, including industry executives, photographers, content creators and entertainers. The series is scheduled to go live on OPPO India’s YouTube channel on June 6.
