Olive warns of fake Planning Board email scam – Daily Freeman

OLIVE, N.Y. — An emergency message has been posted on the town’s website, townofolive.ny.gov, warning of scammers impersonating Planning Board members via email.

The message, titled “Beware of Scammers,” advised residents that the town had become aware of several lengthy and detailed emails “requesting wire transfers for Planning Board fees.”

Officials told residents to avoid opening any emails, attachments or links from the address planning.townofolive.gov@usa, which it called a “fake email.” The town said that real officials would never ask for direct payments or wire transfers.

Residents who receive questionable mail or suspect scams are directed to call the town of Olive at (845) 657-811.
