It’s official, DLSS 5 is coming to Nvidia graphics cards. A new era of AI rendering is being drawn up, and as the available videos show, its potential impact on gaming visuals isn’t particularly subtle. But whether you’re looking forward to it or somewhat sceptical, here’s what you need to know.

DLSS 5 release window

While the actual DLSS 5 release date isn’t confirmed, we do at least know it’s coming in Fall 2026. Per Nvidia’s March 16 release, “DLSS will arrive this Fall”. Of course, usually patterns can be used to guess when a release date is. However, this isn’t really the case for DLSS 5.

Previously, DLSS 4 was released on the same day as the launch of the RTX 50-series, January 30, 2025. Clearly, DLSS 5 is arriving before January, but perhaps not alongside the launch of a new family of graphics cards. However, Fall is a key period for game releases, which may factor in to the timing.

What is DLSS 5

As with prior iterations, DLSS 5 (Deep Learning Super Sampling) is an AI-enabled rendering tool designed to enhance characters, scenes, and lighting in games. According to Nvidia, “DLSS 5 takes a frame’s color and motion vectors as input to deliver photoreal lighting and materials that are deterministic, temporally stable, and anchored to the game’s content.”

Nvidia’s announcement video shows the impact this AI rendering can have across a range of titles, including Resident Evil Requiem, EA FC, Hogwarts Legacy, and Starfield. DLSS 5 will only be available on Nvidia graphics cards, with the company’s RTX 50-series cards certainly supported.

DLSS 5 supported games

The list of DLSS 5-supported games will grow as more are released. However, Nvidia has provided an initial 16-game list of titles that will support the new DLSS iteration:

  • AION 2
  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows
  • Black State
  • Cinder City
  • Delta Force
  • EA Sports FC
  • Hogwarts Legacy
  • Justice
  • NARAKA: BLADEPOINT
  • NITE: Neverness to Everness
  • Phantom Blade Zero
  • Resident Evil Requiem
  • Sea of Remnants
  • Starfield
  • The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered
  • Where Winds Meet

Which studios support DLSS 5?

Nvidia’s designs to ‘bridge the cinematic gap’ in gaming don’t amount to much without the support of game studios. At launch, several have voiced support and spoken about their partnerships with Nvidia. For its part, Nvidia has named the following as studios supporting DLSS 5:

  • Bethesda
  • CAPCOM
  • Hotta Studio
  • NetEase
  • NCSOFT
  • S-GAME
  • Tencent
  • Ubisoft
  • Warner Bros. Games
