Once again, one of my predictions has come true, marketer. The premium Meta subscription I told you about in this article has become a reality.
It turns out that, after its usual testing phase, Mark Zuckerberg’s company has decided to move forward. That is what Naomi Gleit announced publicly, Meta’s Head of Product, on Threads. At last, it is not only Mosseri making announcements to us anymore, because I see more of him than I do my own family.
What types of subscriptions Meta will offer
Although Meta has confirmed that they will add more features in the future, in general, all Meta apps will have their own subscription version.
Instagram Plus
As we had already told you, Instagram Plus will include perks such as the ability to view Stories anonymously, new animations for giving a “super like” (YouTube-style), Story analytics, and the option to extend a Story beyond 24 hours. It will initially cost $3.99 per month.
Facebook Plus
It offers features similar to Instagram’s, given how alike the platforms are. It will cost the same as well.
WhatsApp Plus
This subscription will cost $2.99. Among the features it will offer are:
- Send premium stickers
- Change the app theme (in other words, as if it were a chat theme)
- Customize the app icon (something that, in case you did not know, you can already do if you change your phone’s theme to one that modifies the appearance of apps)
- Pin more chats
- Get premium ringtones and notification sounds (so, are we really going back to paying for ringtones?)
There will also be subscriptions for Meta AI users
For Meta AI users, the company will test two new subscription plans, although the basic features will remain free:
- Meta One Plus, priced at $7.99 per month
- Meta One Premium, priced at $19.99 per month. This plan will include the same features as the previous one but with greater capacity for handling more complex requests, such as reasoning tasks, as well as more image-to-video generation capabilities.
The testing phase for these plans will begin next month in Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia.
Things to keep in mind
You should know that these subscriptions are in addition to the Meta Verified subscription. In other words, if you are a content creator who pays for Meta Verified to verify your account and gain access to Meta support, and you want to use any of these new subscriptions, you will have to pay more.
Considering that, as the company made public in January 2026, around 35 million users on Facebook and Instagram had joined the Meta Verified program, generating profits of $2 billion… if we add this new subscription on top of that, it represents a great deal of revenue for Meta.
There will also be other plans for businesses and creators that will begin testing in Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Thailand, and Bangladesh. Meta One Essential will cost $14.99 and will include verification features, impersonation protection, and an enhanced links page where users can include links to their online presence across social media and the web; and Meta One Advanced, priced at $49.99, will include the benefits of the previous plan along with featured placement in Instagram and Facebook search results, a special “follow” button on Reels, and the ability to automatically send follow invitations to people who interact with your content. Subscribers to this plan will also get new planning tools, tools for sharing account access with other moderators without having to share the password, and notifications alerting them when other Facebook or Instagram users reuse their content without permission.
These latest features could make a real difference for those who work in social media, including agencies and freelancers who have to ask for their client’s account password every time they get logged out.
Overall, with these plans, users will be able to access more detailed analytics and advanced features, while creators and businesses will be better equipped to drive more traffic to their websites or online stores through links in Instagram posts and Reels, as well as on Facebook profiles.
