Meta tests ‘Series’ feature for Reels to help creators build episodic content on Instagram, Facebook

Meta is testing a new “Series” feature for Reels on Instagram and Facebook that will allow creators to organise videos into episodic collections, making it easier for audiences to follow content across multiple episodes, TechCrunch reported.

The feature is currently being tested with select creators. It allows both existing and newly published Reels to be grouped into a series, with each Reel serving as an episode within a larger collection. The series will have a dedicated hub on a creator’s profile where viewers can find all related videos in one place.

According to Meta, the feature is aimed at helping users keep up with serialized content that spans multiple videos. The company said it is already seeing such content gain traction on its platforms and is testing a simpler way for audiences to find and watch every episode.

For creators, the feature offers a more organised way to publish episodic content, including tutorials, challenges and other multi-part video formats. For example, a creator producing a “10 days of healthier baking” series can group all 10 videos into a single collection.

Each series will appear in a dedicated tab on a creator’s profile and have its own page. Viewers will be able to browse all episodes, watch them in sequence and continue from where they left off.

Users who discover an episode while scrolling through their feed or browsing the Reels tab will also have the option to open the complete series and view other episodes. In addition, viewers can save a series to watch later or keep track of future episodes.

Meta told TechCrunch that it is exploring monetisation opportunities for the feature but did not provide details on how that could work.

The company is conducting the test with a limited group of creators and content producers who already publish serialized content on Instagram and Facebook.
