Meet Sampson and Walter, this week’s CVAS pets of the week. These are just two of the amazing animals residing at area animal shelters.

Pets find themselves homeless for a wide variety of reasons, in need of a new home and a second chance. So if you are looking for a new furry best friend, check out the shelter’s many residents. Any of them would make a great pet and wonderful companion.
Adoptions now take place by appointment only, and that has worked very well. Donors have also helped with supplies and money, something very necessary to provide for the shelter’s homeless animals.

Sampson
When Sampson arrived at the shelter, he barely had any fur, was covered in fleas, and had a severe skin and ear infection. Can you believe this 6-year-old Golden Retriever was a stray? It’s true. Sampson was treated for the fleas, an ear and skin infection and had some bloodwork done that revealed that Sampson has hypothyroidism. With the help of his thyroid medication, Sampson is growing back the fur that he was missing when he first arrived at the shelter. Sampson will be on this medication most likely for the rest of his life. He is also on a special food as he does have some food allergies. He will need someone that understands that Sampson will need regular veterinary care to keep his thyroid levels checked and to keep his allergies in check. Sampson is a sweet guy but would do best in an adult only home. He loves going for walks and loves going to the play yard to take in all the outdoor smells and watch the world around him. Walter
Walter arrived at the shelter as a stray with his sister Wendy. He is a 4-month-old brown tabby boy who is playful and super sweet. He’s going to make someone a wonderful companion.
