A Marion County woman has been charged with animal neglect after deputies discovered a decomposing dog and cat inside an empty apartment.
32-year-old Brooklynn Showers was arrested on Sept. 25.
Court records state that both animals had likely been dead for months.
Showers denies owning the cat and says she rehomed the dog.
She is charged with two counts of animal neglect resulting in serious injury or death.
