New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin has co-sponsored a coalition calling on search engines and payment platforms to take stronger action against harmful deep fake content.
The bi-partisan coalition is led by Vermont Attorney General Charity R. Clark and is co-sponsored by 46 state attorney generals.
Deep fakes are images or videos in which AI has been used to manipulate a person’s face or body. Deep fakes usually make it seem like a person is doing something they never did, such as engaging in pornography. A 2023 report found that 98% of fake videos found online are considered “deepfake nonconsensual intimate imagery.”
