A Shelby music entrepreneur is using artificial intelligence to create and release a new album.

Dyanna Lynn White, 74, has produced and released an album titled “Back To The Past: 10 Original Songs,” according to a community announcement.

The album features 10 original songs written by White over the years, drawing from her life experiences, inspirations and imagination. Using AI music tools, she composed the musical tracks for each song in a variety of genres. She then created an AI artist, Derek Saint James, to perform the songs. White also served as producer and arranger for the master recordings, which were released on her record label, White Records.

“AI tools are amazing technology that makes it possible and affordable for a lyricist or songwriter to produce a song with high quality production values,” White said in the announcement. “Also, I love it that AI programs make it possible for a songwriter or producer to create an artist to perform their work and empowers them to share their message and music with the world, especially when you’re my age!”

The album was several weeks in the making

The album took several weeks to produce, including protecting the copyrights and preparing for the digital release with YouTube lyric music videos. White said she has had a positive experience using AI tools to create music.

“What is most amazing to me about creators using AI is that now I’m hearing hit songs on the radio and seeing music videos going viral,” she said. “I believe they’d never have reached such an audience to appreciate their work without today’s digital and AI technology. I feel so blessed to be able to do this now.”

White, a 1969 graduate of Shelby High School, has previously written, produced and performed two country music parodies with YouTube music videos. She also pursues her passion as a professional photographer.

The album is available on White’s official websites, DerekSaintJames.com and DyannaLynnWhite.net.
