Dog Mom Realizes Her Pup Is Her Twin, and It’s Too Funny

Have you ever looked at a dog parent and their pup and thought, “They kind of look alike?” Even though it’s not possible, dogs and their humans have a funny way of starting to look and act alike, even if their human parents didn’t actually give birth to them.

If you have any doubts, just take a look at Maple and her mom. Even though Maple’s human didn’t quite give birth to her, the similarities between them are uncanny. While many parents would be honored to have their kids turn out like them, in this case, Maple’s mom may be a little more insulated than honored.

Just as they say, kids are a reflection of their parents. This dog mom just found out the same is true of her fur child, Maple. Captioning the video with “When they say your dog is a reflection of you…and you realize you’ve been exposed by a dramatic little foodie with selective hearing,” Maple’s mom may have to look inward next time she complains about her.

While we may never really know if Maple is the way she is because of her mom, we can’t help but think that the two may be correlated.

However, it’s not just Maple’s mom who has this issue. “My dog is full of anxiety, we’re TWINSIES,” commented one viewer. Another also replied with, “As the father of a cat, this is right.”

Why Do Dogs Look and Act Like Their Humans?

While Maple’s case might be a coincidence of habits, the truth is that dogs can and do look and act like their humans over time. And like most things, it’s all because of the human in the relationship.

Consciously or subconsciously, research has shown that humans tend to gravitate towards pets or people who look or act similarly to them. While not always the case, there’s a special kinship between humans and pets that share similar physical traits, which may make people more inclined to adopt a pet with similar attributes.

Over time, pets and humans living in the same environment will pick up similar habits and routines simply from cohabiting in such close quarters. As pets adopt their human’s lifestyle, it’s not unlikely to find that your pet starts mimicking some of your own mannerisms over time.

All of this to say, Maple definitely picked up her selective hearing from her mom.
