LAKE CHARLES – Coming off a 1-1 showing over the last four days, the McNeese Cowboys fell two spots to No. 22 in this week’s CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll.
McNeese, 2-1 on the season, dropped a 79-67 decision at Santa Clara on Friday and defeated Biblical Studies 132-50 on Monday night. Santa Clara, No. 12 in the poll, upset Xavier in front of its sellout crowd of 9,000 on Monday night in dominating fashion, 87-68.
New Orleans is ranked right behind the Cowboys, breaking in at No. 23 after defeating TCU over the weekend. Several other McNeese opponents are receiving votes – Murray State, Stephen F. Austin and Middle Tennessee.
Gonzaga tops the poll followed by Saint Mary’s, Liberty, Yale and High Point to round out the top five.
McNeese will be back home on Friday night when it hosts long-time rival ULL at 6 p.m. in Townsley Law Arena. Fans can get a general admission ticket for the low price of $5 while all fans will receive a free gold t-shirt courtesy of Townsley Law Firm.
