Gaston County Animal Care & Enforcement joined WCNC+ to discuss August’s Clear the Shelters campaign and showcase some of their adoptable dogs and cats.
GASTONIA, N.C. — The nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign Clear the Shelters is underway during the month of August, with an extended donation effort underway now through Sept. 15.
During the annual event, WCNC Charlotte and NBC stations across the country team up with local shelters and rescues to promote pet adoptions and raise money for animal welfare.
Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement (GCACE) is one of the participating shelters holding an in-person adoption event on Saturday, Aug. 23. The shelter is located at 1491 Business Park Court in Gastonia. GCACE’s Clear the Shelters event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event is set to feature adoptable pets, raffles and vendors and food and beverage trucks.
GCACE’s normal business hours are as follows:
Sunday & Monday – Closed
Tuesday through Friday – 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Saturday – 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

King

Bio: 7-year-old, male King German Shepherd mix, 80 pounds
This gentle giant loves nothing more than to sidle up to your side and cuddle in to get all the pets and love he can! He is great with other dogs, though they can find his size intimidating.
Luna

Bio: 8-year-old, female Terrier mix, 61 pounds
Very sweet, gentle, and laid back. Loves to cuddle. Housebroken. Does well left in the home as she just wants to nap and cuddle.
Max

Bio: 2-year-old, male Rottweiler mix, 63 pounds
Goofy playful boy who loves to talk to you. Very playful with both his people and other dogs. Has done phenomenal in playgroups!

Breeze

Bio: 3-year-old, female Shepherd, 60 pounds
Sweet girl with perfect energy. Does amazing in puppy playgroups and has been used as a helper dog because she is so good with other dogs. Loves to cuddle her people.
Fluttershy

Bio: 1-year-old female Domestic shorthair mix, 4 pounds
Very sweet and shy girl. Needs a quiet place where she can blossom into the loving and friendly girl she used to be.
