Every slime is different in Slime Rancher 2, and finding the best ones to make the most money takes trial and error. Thankfully, we’ve done most of the math for you to figure out which pairings make the best profits for your ranch. Not all of them are straightforward, but there are plenty of Plorts to farm.
From the early game Pink Slimes to the elusive late-game slimes that are hard to catch, here’s everything you need to know about the best slimes to make money with fast, so you can continue to expand your ranch and make Rainbow Island your new home.
How To Get Pink Slimes And Pink Plorts
These versatile little slimes have the least valuable Plorts, however, the slimes have significantly more worth when merged into Largo Slimes. The Plorts themselves are still all but worthless, but since Pink Slimes can eat anything and are abundant around Rainbow Island, they’re the perfect pairing for hard-to-feed slimes like Flutter Slimes.
Pink Slimes aren’t a permanent solution, but they work well when getting started to get additional Plorts and to feed tricky slimes that require resources you may not have found sustainable ways to obtain yet. You can also use Pink Slimes to farm Largo Plorts to create alternate Largos later, so Pink Slimes and their ports are stepping stones.
How to Get Yolky Slimes And Yolky Plorts
Yolky Slimes are tricky to find, as they don’t have a distinct home region. Instead, they only appear in nests around the map on occasion. When you find a Yolky Slime, pick it up immediately and take it home. Yolky Slimes don’t require any food or a special enclusure to keep–instead, you can drop them in a coop.
These slimes will help you raise more hens and roosteros quickly by producing massive eggs in the coop. When these glowing eggs are created, you can scoop them up and smash them to reveal a handful of chicks and Yolky Plorts.
If the egg isn’t fresh, it’ll look like a rock and won’t provide any Plorts.
Yolky Plorts vary in price, but tend to fall in the mid-range for profits. Due to how many of these you can keep without having to feed them, they’re a great option throughout the game. Just remember to clear out the hens and roosteros regularly, as the Yolky Slimes won’t produce eggs if the corral is overcrowded.
Multiple Yolky Slimes can be placed in the same coop, so it’s a good idea to store them all in one corral at first before you separate them into multiple corrals around the ranch. Just be aware that you’re likely to end up with a nigh infinite amount of hens and roosteros if you’re not careful, so try maintaining a corral of carniverous slimes for good measure.
Unfortunately, like Fire and Puddle Slimes, Yolky Slimes cannot be made into Largo Slimes.
How to Get Dervish Slimes And Dervish Plorts

Dervish Slimes are only found when storms appear, creating tornados that throw slimes everywhere. Picking up a few of these precious Dervish Slimes is all you need to ensure a steady farming plan. Even just a few Plorts can help create Largos that provide additional Plorts.
Prickly Pears are the favorite snack of Dervish Slimes, which can be difficult to find early on. However, merging Dervish Slimes with Tabby Slimes can make things much easier, allowing you to control your hen population and increase your Plort output.
How to Get Rock Slimes And Rock Plorts

Rock Slimes are dangerous, much like Crystal Slimes, in that they have jutting spikes that will strike you. However, the Plorts from these slimes sell for a decent rate consistently. Since Rock Slimes eat a veggie diet, it’s easy to farm and feed them regularly.
Make sure to keep your distance when collecting Plorts from these Slimes, or you risk depleting your health entirely. It’s worth investing in the Plort collection terminal so you can automatically pick up the Plorts at regular intervals and collect them without getting hurt.
How to Get Boom Slimes And Boom Plorts
Boom Slimes are incredibly dangerous, constantly building towards an inevitable explosion that disorients nearby slimes caught in the blast. The explosion will easily damage you as well, making an automatic Plort collector a necessity.
These plorts fall in the mid-range for price, and they are required for numerous upgrades and utilities around the ranch. To fully optimize your collection of Boom Plorts, it’s best to combine these slimes with another type to maximize production and minimize how many specialized corrals you’ll need at the start. Consider using Rock or Crystal Slimes to make things work!
Avoid creating Boom Largos that can fly, as this will make them much more difficult to manage.
How to Get Flutter Slimes And Flutter Plorts
Flutter Slimes are incredibly tricky to feed, as Nectar cannot be farmed at the ranch–only collected from the Starlight Strand region at night. These slimes also fly, meaning that you’ll need a new on a corral to keep them in check.
Thankfully, Flutter Slimes are peaceful and curious creatures. They’re easily infatuated with Hen Hens and Roosteros, so you can pop a couple in a coop temporarily if you don’t have space for a dedicated corral. Additionally, it’s even better to create Largo Slimes with Flutter Plorts for a more sustainable farm.
Batty Flutter Largos or Twin Flutter Largos are good options!
How to Get Twin Slimes And Twin Plorts

These late-game slimes are abundant in the Grey Labyrinth, and they provide plenty of pricey Plorts for you to use in crafting. However, you can sell most of these for a decent profit–sometimes up to 50 Newbucks per plort.
Twin Slimes are vibrant and colorful, and their favorite food is plentiful. Setting up a Polaricherry farm next to the corral will help maintain a steady stream of two-tone Plorts that will make you rich in no time.
How to Get Gold Slimes And Gold Plorts

These slimes are the rarest, and their Plorts are the most expensive ones that can be found. Since Gold Slimes can’t be captured or made into Largo Slimes at the ranch, you’ll have to rely on luck to find any. When you do, you’ll want to hit them with stray items in your inventory that they can eat.
Once they finish their snack, these slimes will pop out a couple Gold Plorts for you to collect. They aren’t the most obtainable Plorts, but they can sell for several hundred Newbucks on a good day. Make sure to keep extras on hand for crafting if you want to decorate the Conservatory!
