Arsenal have agreed a new global partnership with Meta, the parent company of Facebook and WhatsApp.
The collaboration aims to bring the club’s global supporter base closer to the team and each other through a lineup of in-person and digital experiences.
The partnership will build on existing fan behaviour, where supporters use the platforms for discussion, celebration, transfer speculation, and tactical debates.
As part of the launch, an ‘It’s Official’ film has premiered across Arsenal, WhatsApp, and Facebook’s channels, capturing the shared experiences of the club’s supporters.
Going forward, fans will gain access to new digital experiences and exclusive content, including behind-the-scenes access and player features. A new weekly show, ‘What’s Appening?’, hosted by Nicole Holliday and Aston Mack, will also be launched and made available on the club’s official WhatsApp Channel and Facebook page.
The deal also includes a series of activations at the Emirates Stadium and will provide opportunities for fans to attend matches through Arsenal’s Facebook communities.
Vivian Odior, Head of Marketing, Family of Apps, said, “We know that being an Arsenal supporter doesn’t start at kick-off and end at the final whistle. WhatsApp and Facebook are where that year-round passion lives – the transfer speculation, the tactical debates, the shared memories and hopes for next season. Whether in a private WhatsApp group chat or echoed across Facebook’s global groups, we’re proud to bring Gooners even closer to the club they love.”
Juliet Slot, Chief Commercial Officer at Arsenal, said, “Being an Arsenal supporter is about shared moments, connection and a sense of belonging in our community. Our partnership with Meta builds on how our supporters already come together, wherever they are in the world, and will create more ways to feel closer and more connected to our club. As we continue to compete to win major trophies, partnerships like this play an important role in supporting that ambition and strengthening our connection with supporters.”
Theo Papageorgiou, News and Content Partnerships Lead, EMEA, Meta said, “We’re delighted to be deepening our partnership with Arsenal to bring fans even closer to the club they love. The new weekly show on Facebook and WhatsApp is a great example of how our platforms can connect fans with their favourite clubs, and we’re excited to see the partnership continue to evolve.”
