Apple has officially released iOS 27. The update is available for iPhone 11 and later models and includes a new version of Siri with artificial intelligence, additional Apple Intelligence capabilities, changes to Liquid Glass, and a number of performance improvements.
One of the main innovations was Siri AI. The assistant now supports a full dialogue with the user and can work with personal data on the iPhone – messages, emails, photos, files and information from applications. Siri can also search for information on the Internet and perform more complex commands.
For example, a user can ask Siri to find specific messages or photos, delete files or emails, add ingredients from a recipe to a shopping list, find a saved password, or create automation for a smart home.
Another new feature is Visual Intelligence. It is integrated directly into the Camera app and allows you to analyze objects and information around you. For example, the system can determine the nutritional value of a product or calculate how much each person should pay on a shared check.
iOS 27 also introduces a system-wide feature called Write with Siri. It lets you generate text using AI, change its tone and phrasing, and get editing suggestions. Siri can also analyze the style of a user’s messages and emails.
In other new features, Apple has also significantly improved the Clean Up tool in the Photos app. It is better at removing unwanted objects from images and restoring backgrounds. In addition, there are Extend and Reframe tools that use AI to expand the boundaries of a photo and change its composition.
Apple has also added better transparency controls for Liquid Glass. There’s a slider in the settings that lets you make buttons, menus, and panels more transparent or opaque.
The updated Home app now supports recording from HomeKit Secure Video cameras in 2K and 4K.
AirPods now have new audio customization options. Users of compatible models can adjust the bass, midrange, and treble separately.
Separately, Apple has improved the performance of iOS 27. The company has accelerated animations, launching apps, AirDrop, opening the keyboard, working with the app library, and switching between home screen pages. It has also improved iMessage syncing and switching between Wi-Fi and cellular.
By the way, most of the new AI features require Apple Intelligence, so they are only available on compatible iPhone models. Their availability also depends on the language and region. Unfortunately, Ukrainian is not currently supported. Performance improvements apply to all supported iPhones, including older ones.
You can install iOS 27 via Settings → General → Software Update. The update size is about 8-10 GB.
